I know Man. Not err body is LeBron or Tom Brady Steph will gone before We know it. Sucks He’s 1 of Thee very few players in any sport that I actually care enough to Hope to see that player continue to play as long as possible. Jordan , Barry Sanders , Griffey Jr. & ThA Chef I Hope Steph plays @ least another 11 years. 🤞 Not likely. Will be lucky to get 5more years , but Steph could give Us another decade with His style , it’s unstoppable, He can drop it from anywhere on the court , which opens up the lanes for Him and He’s always in exceptions shape ( cough Zion … cough cough ) So He is 1 of those All Time Elite talents that has the game that could go as long as He wants to play. Only reason another 11 is possible is because ThA Chef is not like anyone else. Ever.

If you've ever had to guard someone who's hot as your primary defender or have gotten hot yourself before on a basketball court, you would understand. It is terrifying for a defender when you realize there is nothing you can do to stop this guy but to foul him and liberating as a scorer when you realize you're so hot all you need to do is see the rim and just toss it up and it will go in. Most times it takes a demonstration before both players get to that point, you have to prove it but with Steph he's been doing this for over a decade and everyone knows it. I bet guarding him gives people actual nightmares

Always found it baffling how under-utilised the three pointer has been up until recent seasons. Common sense would dictate that they should be attempted far more than they have been historically. Curry is a genuine game changer who, more than anyone else, has had a big hand in transforming the way the game is played. Amazing, as are these videos.

could say the same about going for it on 4th down in the NFL and arguably the 2 pt conversion iirc. Riskier as always but the net effect is powerful.
@KagedStorm
@KagedStorm 2 жыл бұрын
Tbf the 3-pt was added in '79 in the NBA, and wasn't adopted by college basketball until '86. Most coaches during those times thought the 3-pt line was gimmicky and wasn't worth trying to make players who didn't normally shoot that far ever go for longer shots. New rules and mechanics can take a while to truly integrate into a game, especially in long-standing traditional sports where generally the game as a whole doesn't change too much after certain breakthroughs. You can really say that around Ray and Kobe's generation of players were the among the first to grow up with the 3-pt line being a constant part of the game so they learned the game around it. So naturally the more generations of players that come in with that rule being a constant, the more they learn that rule or mechanic with the game itself as a whole.

Kobe could only imitate him, and after that injury he lost his athleticism but gained better footwork and longevity remember MJ was drafted in 84 and retired in 98 but if you add all his years he played it was only played 14 NBA seasons (including the ones with the wizards) Kobe was able to play 20 straight season from 96 to 2016. A whole 6 more then Jordan....

Yeah, he's a great shooter but he's also an incredible ball handler and passer. Bobby Knight say that Steph was the best passer he's ever seen before the draft. Look it up.

it's not just his ability to shoot 3's that make him special. His insane dribbles, quick shot, and ability to move off ball are part of what give him his ability to get the space needed to take advantage of that skill set. And, the fact that he has an excellent supporting cast that requires defenders to stick tightly to them, plus the unselfish team ball, led by some pretty solid coaching, just blows the roof off.

Edit: it's sad yet exciting to know that Steph will be surpassed one day. Part of me hopes it never happens. Like with MJ being the 🐐. But a part of me wants to be able to look at a kid one day and say "you see what that guy is doing? He's doing it because of a player named Stephen Curry. Lemme tell you a story..." It'll be sad when he retires Greatest shooter of all time, one of the best handles of all time Greatest gravity of all time An amazing passer, above average defender right now Curry is my favorite player of all time. What a 🐐

I think some of Steph's records might hold up longer than we think right now. He got a head start because people weren't defending the 3 point line until 2017 or 2018. Now everyone knows you don't leave Donovan Mitchell or Duncan Robinson or Zack Lavine alone. It's going to be hard to get 15+ threes in a game (though someone will, of course) because they're going to get double teamed at the logo. Modern defenses are geared to stop shooters from getting open looks rather than to stop a dominant post player - the defense against post play is to let the big man score then put him in a switch and drain a 3 on him on the other end. And while more players are shooting more 3's more accurately, that just means that defenses are going to skew even more heavily to preventing 3's. So whoever does finally break Steph's records is going to have to be significantly better than Steph because he'll have to score on defenses designed to stop him, and with fewer slow-footed big guys to prey on. It'll probably happen eventually, but Steph's volume 3's records might turn in to Stockton's assist record and hold up for quite a while. Edit: I think, in the end, Wilt's rebounding record (1 active player in the top 25 - Dwight Howard at #14 - and 2 more in the top 50 - Lebron and DeAndre Jordan) is probably the most unbreakable, but maybe Stockton's assists are close (4 active in the top 25 - CP3, Lebron, Westbrook, and Rondo, but none of them are close. Stockton has 15k and CP is the closest at 10k; he would need to lead the league for 7 straight years to get close to Stockton. Westbrook has the most years left, but he's only a little over halfway there at 8k)

Actually, Curry's record won't hold for very long. He didn't get a head start because he was drafted in 2008 when the game was different (look at Curry's number of attempts when he was a rookie). The younger generation right now is being drafted into the 3-ball era, which gives THEM the headstart.

Sure he is an outsider... but... he is just the current unicorn, all the other could have been considered the Uc's of all Ucs, at their time. but time pass and parameters shift, and probably we should define a GOAT in a different perspective or, eventually, renounce to that definition ;]

People talk about Steph's legend as the 3-point god ... but they barely talk about his wizardry at finishing downhill in the paint!! That gives the impression that he is "one-dimensional", simply a great shooter from outside the arc, and shouldn't be considered a 360 degree player .... sharing the G.O.A.T. spotlight with Michael, Kobe, and Magic!! If they were paying attention, they'd notice that when the defense doubles and triples him on D, he drives to the hole with over 85% accuracy and success, and/or his assist stats are in high double figures by the end of the game!!! Steph is the ALL-ROUND G.O.A.T., and haters at the NIKE corporation are paying BILLIONS in advertisement dollars to keep Michael as the game's so-called "Greatest Of All Time!" After all, if Mike is no longer considered "the GOAT", them $250 - $375.00 sneakers that Chinese slave-labor makes for $8 - $10.00, would quickly end up in Walmart's 80% off sales bins...
