Heya everyone!
Happy Nightmare Night / Halloween 2023! :D
Been a while since a posted something as, once again and as always, life has been busy here outside of music BUT here's one of the two exclusive bonus songs that were on the "Infinite Eclipse: Prequel" CD sold at Galacon: the metal cover of Nerath's theme! :D
Now, I know I previously said I hesitated making a metal cover of that one as it wouldn't really fit the "vibe" of the Crystallized but... a lot of people wanted it and it wouldn't have been fair to Nerath if only Aqasha and the Molten got their metal version, so here we are!
For that cover, I once again was helped by the fantastic guitarist Gabriel Borza, who also programmed the drums! Plus, I worked a second time with Michael Gildner - who previously sang "Last Ramparts" almost two years ago - to cover the vocals here!
Though, I still kept some of Koa's great vocals in the background, as I thought it worked amazingly here as a "response" to Michael durinh some parts.
Gotta admit, I cannot decide which cover I prefer the most - Aqasha or Nerath? Feel free to let me know your favorite in the comments! :D

Ahah, it's okay! Honestly, I didn't mean like the song in the metal genre would sound bad - I mostly meant that the Crystallized vibe/ambiance isn't especially that powerful/energic. Doesn't mean the metal cover here is a miss, though, I'm happy with the result! =D

I don't think there's a single song you've made in this entire series I haven't loved. And this one is no exception. Amazing work! You're right that the Crystalized don't really suit the more energetic feeling of metal, but that doesn't mean you can't make it work, and you made it work nicely here. The Crystalized, I feel, work much better with a low, haunting melody, feeling like a waking nightmare just waiting for you to fall asleep and claim you as it's own, forever.

This was absolutely beautiful, I really like the art and how the paportions are off and distorted like horror villains or seeing something bad in your nightmares it really fits and the sound track... Oh my goodness at the begging the ambience fits so well with the character. You guys did an amazing job with this and personally I like both versions, but if I had to pick this one is better as it really hits hard and makes it feel like your fighting the final boss in a game, just the way it's done is beautiful and gives that creep factor that Nerath really represents.

Something I like to add is this song kinda reminds me of Drowned Ophelia from Brutal Legend as her themes and songs have a similar vibe to Nerath though more heavily based in heavy metal. I do not know instruments, but at the beginning I like the ding noises which make it seem more creepy and I like to think it's from a piano as the guitar is really obvious and I honestly don't know what other instruments were used, but personally this song gave me nostalgia from an old game I use to play a lot which after this song I might play again.

However, for the metal cover, I sent the first version of the lyrics to Michael, which is why it's not the same as the original ^^
