An ancedot for you all. Jyotiba phule was the commissioner for Pune municipality. He was a contractor for Victoria Terminus station now know as CST station in Mumbai. He was wealthy farmer and contractor. Despite all this fortune, he cared for less unfortunate people, woman and Dalits. In 1882, when Lokmanya Tilak was imprisoned along with Agarkar, he was the one who arranged the huge bail amount to let them free which was Rs 10000/- at that time. After that there were ideological differences between two...Tilak was a hardcore proponent of Hindu Dharma and traditions and Phule opposed everything regressive about Hinduism. Tilak even opposed education rights for women. Despite huge favour done by Mahatma Phule to Tilak in his early life, Tilak did not show decency. Tilak didn't mentioned anything or gave any tribute or wrote obituary in his newspaper when Mahatma Phule passed away.
