I saw her many many years ago at the palace theater in Waterbury ..up there on stage with her bare feet. when she sang Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen , you could hear a pin drop and I hardly could breathe. Beyond amazing.

I just heard k.d.'s version of Help Me for the 1st time a few days ago on Pandora and it bowled me over too. I think it was the first cover of a Joni Mitchell song that I really really liked almost as much as the original. Incredibly good and even Joni appeared to think so as the video shows near the end.

Yeah I agree with Heart of Glass. Remember a good cover isn't about replicating a song but providing an interpetation of it. This cover is phenomenally good... much in part because of the arrangement. Even though it's an elaborate production it still carries a lot of emotion.

You've been slated for these comments, but I'm with you! This performance has totally over-slushed Joni's original, which to me emotes the feeling that when you're falling in love you're giving yourself totally, and you're frightened of the outcome. KD doesn't get any of that across at all - it's like any other slushy love song. If this had been the original, it would have disappeared under the weight of myriad other love songs like this, rather than lodge in my heart & mind forever like Joni's.
