I know these weren't mentioned, but hospital playlist, prison playbook, cheer up, hello my twenties and because this is my first life are some of my favourite kdramas (that aren't very romance heavy!) they all have some aspect of romance, but mainly focus on things like friendship, character growth and are very slice of life - exploring things like their struggles as students, mental health, in their careers, pursuing their dreams, women in society, the workplace, fighting against a corrupt society etc. they're just so good and would highly recommend them!! (all on netflix as well, in australia at least!)

I'm usually a sucker for romance drama but Vagabond was great!! Fast paced, gripping, intense and even though the romance scenes were few and far in between, i found it more swoonworthy thn a lot of romance dramas out there 😂. Waiting for a s2 announcement Netflix

Kdramas have great romance dramas but I like other genres more . Some of them are- Vagabond Signal Tunnel Save me Hell is other people The K2 Sky castle Stove league Rugal Hi, Bye Mama Hospital playlist Legal high What happens to my family ( family and siblings relationship was the best thing) It's okay to not be okay ( although romantic but the character development of the 3 main leads is the highlight of the drama)

Signal! Healer! Those are my favorites too!! I also have some recommendations. Save Me (구해줘; Guhaejwo) - It is a thriller about what are happening in a cult religious group. Seo Yeji is the female lead. (Save me describes the actual cult group in Korea, and that cult was also the cause of the outbreak in Korea in the early stage of this pandemic.) Hot Stove League (스토브리그) - This is what happens in a baseball team that ranks bottom of the league. It is rather an office drama that depicts the underdog revolt than a sports drama. It made a mega hit in Korea last year. The cursed (방법; Bangbeop) - It's an occult drama and very well made. It is similar to a Korean movie called Gokseong.

When I tell people I like to watch Asian drama, they immediately say, "o u like k-dramas," when in reality I prefer to use the term asian dramas I actually just watch asian dramas. I don't just watch korean shows. Boys over flowers was originally a Japanese manga, and was adapted by 4 different asian countries. Like I started a Japanese drama and found out it was originally a Taiwanese show and had a korean adaptation...

For those looking for dramas that aren't solely about romance, I would strongly recommend Laughter in Waikiki(you will be crying tears of laughter the whole time), it is okay that's love(beside the romance, mental health issues have been potrayed in such an empathetic manner), Hyena(it's a legal drama and brilliant in all aspects) and Reply 1988(it is such a good drama about life in general plus it is really heart warming).

I started stranger like 3 months ago. When I finished I was so bummed cause it was so unique and it didn't have any of those 'kdrama cliches'. It became and still is one of my favorite kdramas ever. So you can't imagine how happy I was when I found out they had made a season 2! I'm currently watching it right now.❤️

I really love this segment of Jen and Sarah. Things that they say are so accurate. People always label kdramas as romantic but kdramas since the last decade have showcased a lot of variety from horror, action, comedy, mental issue, academic issue and the list goes on. A tinge of romance is there but it is not the focal point in many dramas now and some dramas completely forgo the romance. Also even kdrama romances come with a lot of life lessons and values. And honestly we all squeal when the leads get together.

the dramas that started the k drama sensation all over the world like in taiwan, southeast asia and other middle east countries with a tinge of romance and plot heavy ones are like jewel in the palace and jumong. the romance ones being autumn in my heart (ive seen numerous adaptations), lovers in the palace and full house. these shows are old more than a decade old but they are gold. and then the f4 trend started and every drama with lee minho became hit after hit after hit.

*sigh Still waiting for another high fantasy drama like arthdal chronicles where they actually do some worldbuilding (not exactly the world but atleast they made lore and tribes and naming them differently) Actually I'm into kdrama not because of the romance. I don't care about romance. I watch them at first because of the handsome actors and the comedy. My 2 first kdramas are bbf and you're beautiful and they're pretty funny. Also the aesthetic of the drama. They do sad scenes really well too. As I move on from drama to drama I'm more into fantasy kdramas. I wish south korea would make more high fantasy drama.

I actually discovered kdramas through vagabond because I love action. (I was breastfeeding and managed to watch every english action show/movie available On Netflix when I finally caved and tried out vagabond). IT WAS AWESOME. This got me hooked on kdramas. My husband also loved it. Now my frustration is this: I immediately googled to see what other kdrama action shows there are and the recommendations are HORRENDOUS. The problem seems to be that international kdrama fans are predominately romance lovers so every ‘action’ recommendation is not actually action. The closest to vagabond level action is K2. Ok, K2 has a decent amount of action and a good conspiracy. But damn, they spend a ton of time on the single cheesiest and worst acted romances I have ever seen. Other ‘action’ recommendations: - Healer: I really loved the drama. It wasn’t action at all. It’s more conspiracy/romance? - City Hunter: why do people even bother calling this action? He kicks a few times and does the same throw over the shoulder....argh.....NOT ACTION! I did find out about Iris and tried the first episode.... it was action but maybe it was the weird romance they shoved in that I found off-putting so I quit that. It’s be great to get some good recommendations of action a la vagabond style. Oh, and Netflix, please give me a season 2!!
