This is one of the Apsara dance custom, and accessories are based relief on the wall of the Angkor Wat temple. Thai loves Apsara Cambodian classical dance as well. They have performed differently. Beautiful performance.

Buri Ram as well as most of what is now modern day Thailand have had both the same Brahmanism, Hinduism influences, as well as a healthy dose of Khmer influence (which was crossed into early Siamese groups during the years of living as vassals under the Khmer Empire territory at the time). It was not until around 700 years ago that the governor of Sukotai declared complete independence from the empire's control. Likewise, some cross influences from early Siamese likely spilled over into Khmer culture as well. But the majority of transferring was from the Khmer into Siamese (along with those same Indian influences that came into Khmer culture as well around the same time period with Siamese). It's fascinating to learn how cultures and languages (and religions) naturally seem to mix over time - despite the circumstances of how the groups were introduced or how they interacted with each other (war, dominance, expansion or accidental meeting). The more it is understood, the more people begin to really see and appreciate the larger number of similarities and smaller number of differences between countries (example: Thailand and Cambodia). The largest obstacle to people learning more is almost always due to political motivations of nations' governments - often twisting facts and ultimately confusing their own people. It happens in most every country even today.

Go to hell, when someone manipulated and not accepted the reality, that the Apsara dance are belonging to the Khmer ethnic and has nothing to do with the invade Thai, because this dance was implemented about 1000 years ago. Thailand just born in the 20th. Century (1938). The real Khmer surin will always loyal to their Khmer ancestors. Of course it is slow. The purpose of the classical dance is to demonstrate grace. Movements are rich in meanings and dancers were supposed to be fluid in body motions. The thais lacks the knowledge of the meaning of the moves so they sped it up to amuse. I'd say the Siamese version is rather full of stiffness and lacks grace.
