Kākāriki karaka are one of our rarest birds with only 350-400 individuals left in the wild.
With the help of the Jobs for Nature programme, Hiking New Zealand has switched from outdoor guiding to predator control helping protect kākāriki karaka and other threatened species in Arthur’s Pass National Park, Canterbury.
