It certainly could be restored. The paperwork issue was only relevant at the time. 1. Today it would need a full inspection and overhaul anyway. 2. FRA Form 4 governs rebuilding now so 1940s or 1950s ICC paperwork would be irrelevant. Even on the Claremont & Concord 47 could have run again but an inspection would have been required to create a new condition analysis since no existing paperwork could do that.

It’s a real shame what happened with this loco. #47 was the first locomotive used by steamtown when they first started up. But unfortunately, her records were destroyed in a fire, so steam town was forced to shut her down after not even a month of service.

She has been freshly overhauled before sale too. All that was required as a full boiler inspection to essentially create new records. Now a full rebuild would have to be done due to the neglect over 55 years.

I recall this engine running an Excursion service but a mysterious fire burn all her paperwork so she couldn't run anymore and if I'm correct she resides at Steamtown in Scranton Pennsylvania

this was a big surprise Canadian national no.47 i first heard of this engine in a video by greenfrog videos (trying to remember what the title of the video was) i think this was one of the most short lived excursion engines to run with losing the paper work in a fire after a week of running seems short lived but at least it had a chance of running for awhile

A&WP 290 47, arguably the most well known due to its stint operation on the Claremont & Concord. 49 is quite well known for being on display on the transport museum too.

I used a CN 3 chime that most smaller CN passenger engines had. That video is the whistle 47 had when it ran in excursion service, not confirmed to be the whistle it wore in revenue service. There is a difference.
