And because of this run, 460 is the only Pennsy E6 in preservation. One of the DD1s has also been preserved, but i think for a different reason.

@@WesternOhioInterurbanHistory doubtfully. if it had happened, i think 1: the engine would be preserved and 2: it would be in mallards current position
@WesternOhioInterurbanHistory2 жыл бұрын
This actually happened. On June 12th, 1905, PRR Atlantic 7002 reached 127.1 miles per hour between AY tower in Lima, Ohio, and Elida Ohio. This claim is often challenged by British people "because mallard better". The engine was scrapped, however the PRR took another Atlantic and changed it to 7002 in its honor. It's also worth noting that the engine in this video (also a PRR Atlantic) reached 115 miles per hour, (I need to look into this) and it's throttle was not wide open. It's very likely that this event actually happened.

its quite funny actual Scotland didn't actually break 100mph, her sister did. But the 460, or a reading 4-4-2 camelback could also have taken the record. Another key contender is an unstreamlined 4-6-4 Milwaukee Hudson, which was testing for the hiawatha.

Was the unauthorized use of steam in the tunnels due to the fear of smoke inhalation by the crew and passengers?
@KLTrainz9 жыл бұрын
+Train Freak That, and the NYC had a VERY bad accident that resulted in a wood coach catching fire from steam engine cinders, there was a very high death toll because of that. So the PRR stopped as well, thats also why they made the P70 steel coach. To prevent car fires.
