Hi Sergiu, I’ve been working as filtration specialist for about 8 years and I must say that you are explaining everything very good and accurate. The only thing you need is a particle counter to be fitted inline after the filter. Then you will be able to measure particles smaller or bigger than what the manufacturer claims. Keep these videos coming 😉
@SergiuGabor4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lasse and thanks a lot for your appreciation. I've been looking for a particle counter the can work with oil from the beginning, but I couldn't find such a device. Most of them are dedicated for airborne particles, not for particles suspended in liquid. If you can suggest such a device, I would surely use it in my tests.

Hello lasse, can you tell us something about your experience? Is for instance a OEM filter the best? Or are the the other non OEM filters "programmed" to be less effective than the OEM.

I get sick of KZbin videos that don't show the performance of the filter. They cut it open and look at it. You don't. I can't believe Mann outperformed K and N by a long shot. The price doesn't show the performance as better than normal. Thanks, subscribed, and great video! Can't wait to see more videos!

Excellent work! I think I know why is there a difference between OE Mann and aftermarket. It actually has to do with country of manufacture. The OE Mann was from Germany, and the aftermarket you tested from Spain. Mann used to make this exact model of filter only in Germany, for both OE and aftermarket, but now they are made in Spain and Czech (they confirmed this by email to me). I used to order them from Autodoc, they were always from Germany and had that more brown-ish thicker filtration material, even though they were aftermarket. I recently ordered them again from Autodoc, the one that came was from Czech, and I ordered one from a local shop, this one was from Spain. Both are almost identical and have the thinner, lighter in color filtration material. If you're buying Mann filters, check and make sure they are German ones (it's darker in color), if not, maybe it's best to go with Mahle.
@dickclements2 жыл бұрын
It’s interesting they would run separate production lines for the same filter. You’d think it would be cheaper to produce them all in one place, or at least, with common media. Thanks for sharing this info. I think I will switch to Mahle

If you add a second control filter with a know very low/small micron filtration media, use this to see how much and how big the particles are that are passing the oil filter being tested… measure using your micro scope, count number and size of particles in a given area. All other comparisons a side the amount and size of particles passing a filter and the flow restriction are the metrics that have the biggest risk to engine life👍

Hello Sergiu! I love these informative videos. They are, in my view more interesting than Project Farm’s videos on the subject. I’d love for you to have a cooperation regarding at least oil and oil filters. I’ve never seen Valvoline or MANN handle the test as well as in your testing in other testing. MANN Hummel seems to have different products for the same car models in the USA and in Europe. This is especially noticeable when it comes to Wix and Wix XP. As a consumer it is hard to keep up with all of this and we cannot just look at what is being tested in Europe or in the USA/Canada and believe that we’ve got the full picture. Wix 57055 is the product for Subaru XV (Crosstrek) NA Subaru Forester in North America, but it is WL7475 here in Europe and the Wix XP is not available at all. Wix 57055XP. I’ve been using Amsoil Signature Series 0w-20 for some time now. The cold Start quality of the oil is what is important to me here in Sweden. Amsoil does also have their EA15K-filters. I currently run AMSOIL Signature Series 0w-20 and EA15K01 in my Toyota Verso-S (MY2012) and the same kind of oil and EA15K13 in my Subaru Forester (MY2016) 2.0 XS (naturally aspirated engine). I highly recommend www.ato.de/ and chemiasamochodowa24.pl/en/ for buying oem and Amsoil oils (and filters). The Amsoil filters are supposedly good for 20 microns and the filter media is some kind of polyester and not cellulose. Now, I don’t run my oil and filter 15000 miles (ca. 24000 km). I change it every 6 months and/or 10000 km.

@cosmin06993 жыл бұрын
Hi Sergiu, your video are very good and I learn a lot from them. I have to tell you that the flow test isn't 100% like in real life, I think that it's importat to compare the flow of the material and the surface area, because a material can have a bad flow but with a larger surface area can have a better flow over all. Maybe if you calculate the flow rate over the surface area you can have more accurate result. What do you think about it?
