This guy is really underrated .... I'm only hoping that in time we really recognize this poet and prophet.

It's a movie and the whole World is viewing it And the popcorn is dreams torn But we're always chewing it The set design is by God but The costumes by the devil And the screenplay is adapted from A book that's embezzled This is where I grew up This is where I grew proud This is where neighbors never say Music is too loud This is where the streets have no name But they have history This is loss is victory Oh my name it ain't nothing My age it means less The country I come from could Be like the rest I was taught and brought up there Laws to abide and the land that I live in Has God on it's side I was young I grew i could tie my shoe I was blind But I knew that I would always see blue Blue seas I see through on The bottom I'll meet you And when we come up for a breath Would you mind if I kiss you? Childhood came up for the kiss But it slips it's pain in with mist And the sunny skies came and I missed it Vanished and windswept Landed and we slept in The arms of convenience, blanket obedience Now Somali-American war had it's day And the Civil War too was soon laid away And the names of our warlords I was made to memorize With guns in their hands, they said God's on their side I had an undying wish to keep from dying I had an untimely hitch keep me from climbing But I climbed the hitch it'self And I tried flying I had an uprising in my soul The left was fightin' the right And the right was fightin' the light And the light was blind in the night And the night woke up in tears When my fingers went to wipe them They became a poem but to write then They would have to speak Tears in another language That would take years now as I'm leavin' I'm weary as Hell The confusion I'm feelin' Ain't no tongue can tell The words fill my head and fall to the floor If God's on your side then Would you ever need war?

Many of us have gone through this thought process, and still, there is no other country like the U.S.A. Our founding fathers set a great experiment in motion, and it is worth fighting for ....

Powerful lyrics - powerful song.....I grew up during the era of "Hippies & Flower Power," when Dylan was a powerful artist /performer at Woodstock. The lyric style of this song is comparable of his talent displayed during the late sixties.

Feeling dead right now, trapped inside this mental prison Think how Madiba felt, that's how I'm feeling what's it's gon take for me to be healing The Mind vs the body, that's one hell of a fight In the Favela's trying to do the right Try'n find the light When Darkness Sorrounds your well being Is that Really good for my well being There keep going forwards, while we driving ourselves backwards the richer get richer, the poorer getting dumber

The Favelas Where I Grew up Where many knock my spirit down said I be nothing but a screw up There said I either end up dead, in jail or a homeless alcoholic with no teeth Working up in the slums of Sau paulo with the rats, fighting over the cheese Sometymes I sit and wonder What if she had an abortion My heart's torn, my soul is broken The stress of Babylon devils I knows In my lifetime suffered many blows Sitting thinking how I survived many violent flows

Pressing God For Blessings like I said But why he does the oppossite, sends down Complexions instead Everything I been Through Enough to break you Tortured by the devil, but still In God I Trust Give me a new heart, pump me new blood The one flowing inside my veins, so rotten inside me I fear that it shows outside me Tired of being a child of the night Walking up to the light With God on my Side I got a Wish that one day I know what it's like to be living
