It's an old Albanian song,it dates back to 600 years ago. It speaks about the immigration of Albanians towards Italy after the death of out great national hero Scanderbeg.He was able to protect Albania for 25 years against the Ottoman occupation.After his death (one of the blackest days in our history) ottomans entered in Albania and massacred our people,burned our lands.Many Albanians to save their life left Albania and moved to Italy.This song is dedicated to what they left behind. The song goes like this: Oh my beautiful More (old name for the south of Albania) How I left you behind How I left you behind And I did not saw you again And it keeps repeating,it's like a cry for the lost homeland. Albanians that moved in Italy since in 1468 (year that Scanderbeg died) have formed their villages and they still speak Albanian and are called Arbëreshë.Despite living in Italy since 1468 they are deeply rooted with Albanian language and traditions and are identified as Albanians. ​@@griseldahoxha2346I genuinely think you're wrong. Morea (More) is what Greeks call today "Peloponnese". All that region including Attica and Thebes were populated by an Arvanite (Albanian) majority and the Albanian was the only language spoken. When Turks came there, most of them left, it was a tragedy. They eventually reached the Italian shores where other Albanians had arrived from Albania, after the death of Skanderbeg. They are the descendants of the noble families of Albania but also just people who left because of the Turks (they are called the Arberesh Community and speak a dialect very close to medieval Albanian). When they sing this song, every year at May 1st, they gather in the Piazza dei Albanesi and sing this song looking in the direction of Albania as nostalgia for their homeland.
