Caste does not always belong primarily to one religion. For example, bania is a caste. You can also find hindu banias and jain banias as well. So the jatt communities in pakistan might have been muslim even before sikhs. And once they were all hindus probably. Who either forcefully converted to muslims or volunteered to convert. Then once sikhism started. Some people volunteered to convert to sikhism. For more details you should check out the wikipedia page on "Religions in punjab" . And punjab here is the greater punjab which include pakistani punjab as well not just today's indian punjab.

Very interesting discussions. Good to know that Sikh community has such two great thinkers among them, Sardar Thind and Sardar from Texas or to be more precise Sardar Sikh RI. Unfortunately both have been beating around the bush. Baba had established Khalsa Raj. Khalsa is Persian word and denotes estate of the king, that doesn’t pay any tax to anyone because people were being ruled by Pimps. Pimps would collect all the money and send it to Central government and enjoy his cut. Guru founded Khalsa who will not act as a pimp but will serve the common man and sacrifice for the common man. I am trying to simplify it in pure raw form. Forgive me for my vocabulary, and don’t feel offended. As long as Sikhs followed the tradition of Khalsa with Persian meaning, they were rulers, despite of being in minority but the moment meaning of Khalsa was turned to be pure and relating it to Sanskrit, Pimps began to rule. Guru’s teaching was simple, service with love and sacrifice and that made you rulers but the moment you began to purify with rehat maryada what I will call brahminical system, you ended up as nothing but as Subedar of Modi or of Kejariwal or Indira. Every Subedar is nothing but a Pimp. Pimp can neither stand for truth nor stand for Justice but Khalsa, the sovereign can stand for truth and justice. Let us strive to stand for Truth. Truth alone shall lead to freedom and justice forever. Kudd naa khutey Nanka, Audak Sach rahe.
