I feel like Chenle has always been a good singer (like every time Mark and Haechan weren't able to perform with Dream, he literally carried Haechan's lines and still does as Jeno with Mark's) but he got less lines because he wasn't fluent in korean. Like SM debuted him within less than 2 months of him being in Korea without knowing how to dance or the language and I feel like not only was he busy with work, but he also had to do school so he just never had time to sit down and study like many foreign idols do. He wasn't fluent until 2020 and the pandemic kind of forced him to actually sit down and talk with people that aren't his members and consume Korean media. I feel like that was when we were able to start seeing his full capabilities and when he started getting as many parts and lines in their songs as Haechan.

chenle is WAY weaker than haechan as a vocalist his technique is super underdeveloped 💀so he didn’t get lines because if that! Even now he never gets the highest notes in songs because only haechan has the range and technique to pull them off🤷‍♀️and about chenle “carrying” haechan’s parts lmfao😭😭if you’re definition of “carrying” is shrieking like saying pig then yes I guess chenle does carry🥶 dreamzens ans their need to always discredit haechan! You can cry about it all you want but haechan’ power and vocal range is UNMATCHED, he can literally belt g#5 in mixed voice whereas chenle struggles with anything above a c#5 and immediately goes into weak falsetto

I mean a BIG reason so many 4th and 5th gen idols are such horribly weak vocalists is because nowadays you’re apparently prized more for weak falsetto adlibs and harmonies than toy are for having proper support and being a strong and stable vocalist! Just like in this killing voice apparently Chenle doing airy, nasally falsetto adlibs makes him the “star” but there’s no recognition for haechan literally holding down every song, every chorus with his powerful vocals!p while also hitting all the high notes and high adlibs! He literally hard carried the ist chorus I could literally only hear him! But nowadays only pretty sounding tones and stylistic adlibs (chenle) are more appreciated than strong vocal technique (haechan)
