As a Wonder Girls’ fan. I really appreciated that you did react almost the whole journey of them. 💜👏 The last era (the band concept) of Wonder Girls will be forever iconic. It’s a bit sad that we did not get all of the member together in the last song but the remaining member, they finished the chapter of their journey in the name of Wonder Girls properly and beautifully by showing all of the power and skills they have, writing all of the song for the last 2 album by themselves. Why so lonely was written by Sunmi herself with the help of Yubin and Hyerim for the rap line and the song itself received a very good feedback from the fans and public and even got the chart perfect all kill by being no.1 on all of the music chart in South Korea during that time.

Wonder Girls are great throwback queens. Especially love that they brought us iconic Sunmi. Their ReBoot album is un-skippable. Every song is amazing. It took me too long to listen to the whole thing. You should definitely check out Miss A (who I think as the Girl Power Queens) & the Queens of Summer SISTAR (if you haven’t already), since you seem to be checking out 2nd Gen groups.

As info: When they turn into OT4 formation for REBOOT they turned into a band, they really play instruments live, this is my favorite formation with: Yeeun (Pink Hair, one of the most talented kpop idols ever, she literally play like 10 intruments and is an amazing experiumental soloa rtist called HA: TFELT) Yubin (Queen rapping and playing the drums at the same time? there nothing hotter than that!, she also has a solo carrer with a retro skyle in many songs) Hyerim (she glowed up so much for WHy so Lonely she plays the guitar and she's an actress and MC for shows) Sunmi (she doesn't need introduction, our retro Queen playing the bass even until nowadays) About ex members: Sunye, ex leader joined a show for be part of the group MAMADOL with ther song WHOAAH HIP, wich is a group with only Moms Idols who left industry for being moms. Recently made a solo comeback with JUST A DANCER and other songs. Sohee, the one with Wonder WOman outfit in tell me has really sucesfull actress carreer, she appear in top hit movie "Train to Busan".

Irony: First and last song for Hyuna (who later joined 4minute , Troublemaker , Triple H & debuted as a soloist) At that time Hyuna , Sohee & Sunmi were 14yo. It was a nice song but didn't catch the attention of people. The rapper with deep voice is Hyuna. Wonder girls is the first girl group produced by JYP. After GOD(boy group) which was considered top 3 in SK JYP didn't have any other huge act until WG happened. Tell me became the biggest hit of the year for SK. Sohee's "omona" became a huge catchphrase that is used/mimicked even up this day. After that Sohee's popularity was insane. Until Sunmi's solo debut she was by far the most popular member of the group having many endorsements and center position despite being the maknae. The rapper for this song is Yubin. She joined to replace Hyuna. Yes , the one you pointed out is indeed Sunmi. So hot was another hit for WG. After Tell me the group just kept having hits after hits in SK. Even Girls Generation the nation's girl group wasn't considered a big rival of them at that time (that's how big Wonder Girls were during their rookie years). This song had a 2nd prime as Blackpink made a new version of it a few years ago. And yep that's maknae Sohee!! It's funny though because Sunmi is same age but looks like an older teen meanwhile Sohee looks like a 13yo. Yubin's rap is iconic! 2 different tears is a song that sadly many foreign kpop fans (no matter the generation) don't know of. In SK the song was huge though. That's lowkey when the group started trying to break into USA. The song has an English version which is as good as the Korean one. JYP made a huge mistake by trying to focus on foreign market and by the time they realised Girls Generation , Kara and other groups like T-ara , 2ne1 etc had taken over the Korean Market. Be my babe is another song with English version. That's when the group went all in for retro concept as well. Another successful song (none of their songs though have surpassed Tell me yet). Btw this is the most popular lineup of the group. The DJ is mine is their first and only US debut song. No Korean version for this song. Wonder Girls had their own movie in Nickelodeon and this is the ost of the movie. No other group had reached any close to become relevant in countries outside Asia at that time. Nobody aka the song you didn't react to was their biggest hit outside SK and even made it into magadascar movie. Like this and Like money are my personal favourites. Like this was quite popular and as far as I remember Sohee made a trend with her sneakers or sth as she became a model for Rebook. I think it was around that time but I might be wrong. The song's choreo went lowkey viral. However in general it's an overlooked song.. Like Money is just so good. I'm too biased to even say anything about this song. Sadly it didn't do as well as the rest of their songs. Btw during that time (I think Be mine era) a new member joined in order to replace Sunmi who had left. That's how most people remember Wonder Girls. However Sunmi joined the group again after Sunye & Sohee (both original members) left the group. So the last lineup consisted of Yenny , Sunmi who had left the group and later on rejoined, Yubin who joined in their 1st comeback and Lim who joined when Sunmi left. Sadly this lineup didn't find the success the 3rd lineup had. Their songs are iconic and are loved a lot by international fans. Didn't do bad but didn't do well. The very first kpop album I ever bought was Why so lonely and specifically Sunmi's cover! I really love every single track in this album. 1st lineup: Sunye , Yenny , Hyuna , Sunmi , Sohee (least popular lineup) 2nd lineup: Sunye , Yenny , Sunmi , Sohee , Yubin 3rd lineup: Sunye , Yenny , Sohee , Yubin & Lim (most popular lineup) 4th lineup: Yenny , Sunmi , Yubin & Lim Yenny was the real underdog. She was there all the time as you said. Afterwards- Currently only Sunmi and Sohee are relevant. Hyuna's prime has ended (after the scandal). Yenny , Yubin and Lim media presence is not there even though they are lowkey active and doing their own stuff in the industry. Out of the three I would say Yubin is more seen in tv shows etc. As for Sunye... it's really 50 50. People love her or criticize her. There is no in-between smh.

Nice deep dive history lesson. I’d also like to add the context that a large part of the “hate” half of people “loving or hating” Sunye was that she left the group because she got married and moved overseas while WG was still very active, leading to many fans feeling abandoned. I’m sad her return to Korea and k-pop a couple years ago didn’t seem to be received universally warmly (I guess due to those lingering feelings). She still sounds absolutely incredible, though, and deservedly earned the Main Vocal position of Mamadol. Funny thing about your comment about foreign fans and “2 Different Tears.” I remember specifically that that was the “make good consolation prize” album that JYP sent to people who had preordered the ill-fated English-language album. But I guess it’s true that US fans who’d put down money and been awaiting a preordered album for two years are a different level of “foreign fan” than those getting into k-pop through free file-sharing MP3s or the early days of video streaming services.

@@dafunkk12 That's true. I was going to add that about Sunye but I wasn't completely sure if she announced her marriage right after her departure or at the same time! I knew that was the reason why fans got mad at her though. Oh I wasn't aware of that! All the things I know are based on my basic all-rounder kpop knowledge as I only stan 1 group that's literally in 5th gen. The whole kpop industry however deserves to be studied and that's what I was lowkey doing by watching lots of content for each group. I'm pretty sure korean fans and some international fans know better than me! (omg they had to wait for 2 years? that's crazy

Looking at my emails, the preorder solicitation started Sept 1, 2009, and the refund announcement email (so credit to JYPE customer relations) was February 27, 2013, so actually about 2.5yr.

Oh, and announcements of the delay of the English album and their offering of the freebie make-good “2 Different Tears” album was in May 2010. At that point they said they were still estimating the English album to be released Fall 2010. I don’t seem to have any other emails from them between then and the 2013 refund notice.

Not a wg fan, but they were huge... My fav song is probably why so lonely and like this, and from the older, nobody U might want to check hyuna's other group, once she left here she became part of minute. Also, Yeeun probably was my fav member. Loved can't nobody (she released that as a soloist hatfet iirc) Sunmi also has some nice solo songs (love her older songs)
