This woman has constantly challenged our understanding of what a Kpop idol can do: multi-language speaker, singing, dancing, acting, fashion design, KZbinr, and now writer!!!
@simonwaugh55194 жыл бұрын
IMHO you are being perhaps a bit hyperbolic (particularly, her acting has been minimal and quite bad, and being a "KZbinr" is hardly a mark of distinction) BUT... she is indeed multi-talented--- a very good singer, good dancer, I really like her elegant fashion/design sense, and clearly a lot of other people do, because she went from noticing a sunglasses manufacturer exploiting her SNSD popularity to building an international clothing brand/business/fashion design house, and though no-one seems to have a complete picture of how and why her departure from SNSD occurred, and was such a clusterf**k , it was a remarkable event not for the 'drama' per-se, , but for the risk she felt obliged to take, to be in charge of her professional life and personal well-being, especially given SNSD's success and status at that time. It's my impression that SNSD--as a group, and as individuals--- challenged and redefined K-Pop, and celebrity, and 'idol worship' , by somehow being their 'best selves'---serious about their art/craft, appreciating the staff that contributed to their success, always acknowledging the importance of their fans, but also never taking themselves and their profession so seriously as to be the primary measure of their self-worth. I'm a 60 year old Anglo American male, I'm technically way beyond looking to SNSD, or Jessica for inspiration in MY life, but IMHO she's definitely a great inspiration, regardless of her looks and singing talents---she's worked hard, coped with difficulties, and while she can rightfully take pride in her success, with SNSD and independent of them, she retains a healthy perspective of her accomplishments---what is due to her own efforts, and waht is due to others, and she's still funny too ( though IMHO when she was with SNSD, she was even funnier---but I think that's true of everyone in SNSD).

Simon Waugh hi hypocritical! Have you finished watching her all movies and tv dramas? If not, you’re unqualified to judge her acting. Regarding youtuber, for a singer who is banned in South Korea, without KZbin she can do nothing to circulate her music. Plus not everyone can do KZbin and you absolutely can’t.

I'm really proud of Jessica. She cried a ton when she got kicked out but look at her now. She's like TVXQ's Kim Jaejoong. Got out of the group but now, one of the richest in the whole Kpop industry-- he owns multiple properties. Jae joong and Jessica shows resilience and the attitude that you can succeed even with all the huge obstacles. Inspirational.

Do you know why he sooo rich ? Even with small companies, he look for company that have a great teamwork, no teamwork, no respect for the idol very hard to growth, SM might give all but the agency have so much lacking to protect their idol in dignity. He live alone since after left the group, he brought the house for only one month, then sold, kept buying until his 30+ yess old. Not more than 1 month. Then, the house he sold is more higher price than normal price. He more fans, soo understand the back how he can earn more. He kept working, also the brain of jyj, he very simple person. Look at how he dress up, eat less. Not just house , car also. House taxes and prices kept increased day by day, if a person but now then he sold next, that a brilliant person.

She will always be a huge part of SNSD for me, which in turn is one of the biggest faces of the Halyu Wave not just only in the east but worldwide. I probably won't be as interested in K-culture now if it weren't for SNSD. Bigger and more popular groups would probably eventually arise and rival them but they will forever be that one special group for me that I'll always look back with fond memories, and nothing can ever take that away.

Surprisingly good, deals with many issues in the Kpop and entertainment industry including; *racial issues involving non-koreans in the industry *The slave style training *Corperate abuse of the their artists & trainees *The anti dating rules and consequences *A realistic look at what their relationships are really like *The double standards of genders in the industry. *How the media is manipulated It is fiction, but enough reality in there to make it very informative. And I know a lot of our kids would be very interested in this! Maybe the first of its type about Kpop to be written. And written by someone who experienced all of the above. And the writing is surprisingly well done.

If I buy this novel, it will be for the "behind the scenes" content reflecting Jessica's experience, rather than the plot she's crafted---and I have no interest in extrapolating an explanation of Jessica's departure from SNSD or her present relationships with its members from 'clues' provided by her novel's character, 'Rachel' . In fact, I'd be very interested if she wrote a factual chronicle of how she developed her business . I know the idea for it began when the sunglasses she'd had purchased and worn began to be marketed as 'hers', and I know she has a business partner, but if she wasn't smart and serious herself, it could easily have been a 'vanity' enterprise. Instead it's a 'real' business, and Jessica is a real businesswoman--without losing her many other qualities or her perspective. Of course her fashion business benefited from having a dedicated fan base, but a significant percentage of her fans are males who wouldn't, and never will, buy the products she designs and sells. Though helped by her fame derived from SNSD, she's now independently successful, on her own merits. I learned about SNSD (and K-Pop) first, not through MVs, performances or DJs playing their songs, but from randomly discovering the variety/reality show Sisters Slam Dunk (series 1) which revealed a pretty comprehensive insight into the K-Pop process ( while also being very amusing). In that show, Tiffany Young appeared to me, at first, as a charming but mostly decorative character, but as the show took shape as a 'girl-group' project, Tiffany's talent and professionalism was revealed. Googling her name, I found 'SNSD' but instead of jumping directly to their easily access music and performances, I clicked on the "Girls Go to School' reality TV series ( followed by "Factory Girl"). While GGTS was actually a very clever way of introducing and promoting SNSD as a new group prior to their 'official debut' , it also provides an insight into the K-Pop industry, and at the same time an insight into the characters of each of the members, all of whom have navigated their profession without succumbing to its darker pressures. I think their characters are as much a key to their success, and the love they got from their fans, as their fortunate good looks and singing voices. They are all interesting personalities (and all very funny), but for a lot of people I think, Jessica is the most interesting character of all ( in such an exuberant bunch, the " Sica Effect", her motto of "never run, no matter what" , her frequent visible ( and IMHO justifiable) disinterest and boredom with trite and formulaic questions and situations during interviews and variety shows, make her stand out from the rest of SNSD (to great comic effect) though in fact, all the members have often exhibited similar annoyances or boredom, but Jessica seemed to telegraph it more. As a 'work of literature' Shine could be pedestrian, even awful, as prose, but again, I'd be happy to buy it for its informed content. It might not prove to be 'art' but given the author, this fiction is based on real experience, and IMHO very interesting experience.

Haters gonna hate anyway, no matter what u did. But. I support her Shine novel anyway. The only best way to make people realized being an idol and trainee BASED ON HER EXPERIENCE is not easy and every person has its own struggle. Thats why we need to respect towards each other. No more woman tearing other woman down. And most importantly, how company should change and evaluate THEIR SYSTEM AND THEIR ENVIRONMENT to create a better future idol and better future enterrtainment industry, not only for the sake of Human Rights but also for the Benefit of company itself. We can not just put aside Human right. Make a person human, and the human wont be inhuman just bcs of the inhuman rules human made. 👍 WE CANT LOSE THE NEXT SULLI AND HAVING THE NEXT MINA ANYMORE IN THE FUTURE. #readShine and also, just because shes rich and lucky enough to be found in a mall by sm (without audition etc) IT DOESNT mean shes lazy. She worked hard too. She trained from morning to morning, from school to SM building, it doesnt mean shes lazy and ZERO HARDWORK or ZERO SWEAT FOR GG. whatta stupid haters assumption 🤔 experiences makes her creativity, and it doesnt always real (the whole novel). Back to the novel genre itself, its fiction. Lets just relax, sit back and #readShine 🙏😎❤️
