Katta is a tulu word which spoken in coastal Karnataka predominantly mangalore and Udupi. These Katta Plays very important role in store and increase ground water but sadly these Katta are replaced by check dams

katta is not connected to kerala.. katta belongs to dakshina kannada specially to kasaragod district , then to sullya,puttur,udupi districts..

This is not a Kerala tradition. It’s actually a Tulunad tradition. Tulunad is the Tulu language speaking area comprising the districts of Udupi, Mangalore & kasargod( now in Kerala after independence)
