I'm from Finland. I didn't know anything about Käärijä before the singing competitions. Now I've listened to a lot of his older production and there are really a lot of good songs. "Mic Mac" and "Hirttää kiinni" are my favourites. Mic Mac reflects the artist's personality well: the lyrics are nostalgic and even a little sad, remembering the past. The video, on the other hand, is very funny and the film crew stops filming because the artist's budget has been used up!

This is the only official music video I have ever seen that does not contain the whole song. The whole last chorus is interrupted by the director saying "Stop rolling! I think that's it" Käärijä: "But it's not done! There was some of the song left!" D: "Well, do you have more money?" K: "No, that was the whole budget!" D: "Can't help it, pack it up!" and then Käärijä on the phone video "Hi! Käärijä here. There were some technical difficulties with the equipment, but you can listen to it better on the streaming services.". 😅

Yeah that was hilarious, love how he can incorporate his humor and personality through the video, even though it was "cut-off" AWESOME!

Käärijä came from pretty much nothing. Winning UMK there was only a few Finns that knew him. In a celebrational gig after ESC he asked the audience how many of people (3000 or something) knew him before UMK and only a couple of hands were raised up. So in a very short period of time, he came out of nothing being now the most streamed performer of a song sung in Finnish. I have listened to his album a couple of times, and I must say that being not so much rap guy, but more of a metal guy, some of the songs hit home. And it is all about his attitude, the goofiness, the vibe, chill and positive. He is rather fearless as well, singing about partying only when you are drunk, and he is actually drinking water, dancing these strange dances, making a fool of himself and not caring one bit what you think about him. I must respect that kind of attitude toward life. He makes a statement in every of his performance, from videos, live performances, to his interviews: you only have to be who you are. That is not a very Finnish message, but I guess we do need that message, not only now, but we would have had someone like him tell us already way before. I do personally like his Rock Rock (remix). In the live performances he and his mates have this dance move, jumping on one foot, and I really like the vibe of the song and the performances. I do not think there is a music video of Rock Rock.

This is what makes great artist. I feel like you should be able to express yourself and not the industry shape you. I love his story and love where he is and where he is going. I'm all about the Rock so I want to be able to dig more into that side of him for sure.

Käärijäs attitude towards life comes from his battle with severe illness of colon disease which allmost killed him at the age of 19. He had emergency colon removal operation and fought back to life. He decided to live his life to the fullest and do his music with 100% effort. Just huge respect for that ❤

Yes, that was all he had money for, so they cut it off ...all part of the video. He is so cute. MicMac was a special clothing shop for young kids, belive it or not I spent a lot of money at MicMac shops, jeans, jackets and so on... :)

Noo wtf it wasn't for kids!! 😅Mic Mac was targeted for teenagers and young adults. Mic Mac sold street style clothing and it was very popular in like 2000-2005. Their clothes were kinda hiphop culture oriented as the trend was back then. This was the time when Käärijä himself was also a teenager, him and his friends were "Mic mac guys" as he raps in the chorus "Mic Macci jätkii".

I love this reaction 😊 It feels so weird to imagine how his music sounds to people who don't speak finnish 🤔 I am usually not so much about lyrics if the song just sounds good, I can easily just listen to foreign music without understanding a word. Even in english or finnish music, I often like a song even if I didn't like or care about the lyrics. But there is something about Käärijä's music, that makes me invested in the lyrics also 🤔 Makes me wanna memorize all of them and sing along.

The translation says "Fit. Fat" but I think what it's trying to say is "phat" like people used to say, to mean attractive because it talks about him and his friend wearing "Mic Macs" and looking fit and phat - in shape and attractive lol. Most of the lyrics are actually not something you'd usually hear someone rap about and are quite sweet.

Hi! First, greeting from Chile. As eurovision fan for a couple of years, the competitions every time brings me new joys and this year was Käärijä. As happen to me in esc2021 with Måneskin, i started to dig when i knew of his career before esc ann umk, and when i listen to a few songs .. omg! This is the guy. And i fell in love more with rhe interviews and podcast that let him.talk more about his life and his music vision. It's a lovely and down to eath guy that you can not miss! . For his early works, i totally love Pëlia, Punainen Marli, Klo23, Rock Rock (original and remix) and a lot of more songs! The best things: HE ON LIVE. He's a total performer, 10/10 to his public, and keep you in your toes! So much energy! If you have time, I recomend Tavastian gig, from last Friday, has sub in english for the banter! .

Oh I remember the good old Mic Mac days. Everyone was into hip hop, skateboarding and trying to look cool. 😂 The "Mic Mac boys" were basically the guys in the back of the classroom, trying to act all tough and sneaking out to smoke cigarettes during recess. They had baggy pants down to their knees. 😂 Ps. I think Käärijä is releasing a new song/music video 15th of September titled "It's Crazy, It's Party".

There was a Finnish clothing store aimed at younger demographics called Mic Mac from the 70's to the 2010's. The song is about remembering the good old days when he was in primary school and they were the "Mic Mac" guys. Fit was fat as it should for the jeans to hang low for the hip-hop style of the time.

This is my favourite of Käärijä. The lyrics are cute too: He is at his grandmother's place and while the granny is baking pastries for him he gets an old photo album and starts to remember his old school days and his best mates with whom they used to do tricks and sometimes ended sitting in "after class" as a punishment. MicMac was a trade mark for jeans and other clothes back in 1990-2000 which they were wearing too and he is calling him and those friends "MikMäkki jätkät" = "MicMac dudes"..

In case someone didn't tell you what this is about the lyrics are basically that he went to his grandma's house and found a photo album from his childhood. He is reminiscing about being a dumb teenager wearing his Mic Macs (a specific clothing brand popular with kid in the 90s know for hip hop jeans) with is friends and calling themselves "Mic Mac Bros" (Mic Macci jätkii). The brand went out of business in the early 2010s so they are truly a lost cultural thing of his generation now.
