This song definitely hits home for anyone struggling w an addiction. People who have never dealt w being an addict have absolutely no idea what a burden it is to carry such a heavy weight everyday, because you never quite get over the addiction, even if it's tucked away in the back of your mind, it's always w you.

A whole year is an amazing achievement! Keep it up! Not a lot of people understand what it takes (physically and emotionally) to get off and stay off opiates-Especially heroin. Most people have no sympathy for "junkies", but people like you are an inspiration to all of the people that are having a hard time trying to kick. Don't let the bad days drag you down, and try to keep that monkey off your back. Stay golden, pony boy.

LYRICS Breathe it in and breathe it out And pass it on, it's almost out We're so creative, so much more We're high above but on the floor It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive If you don't have it you're on the other side The deeper you stick it in your vein The deeper the thoughts, there's no more pain I'm in heaven, I'm a god I'm everywhere, I feel so hot It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive If you don't have it you're on the other side I'm not an addict, maybe that's a lie It's over now, I'm cold, alone I'm just a person on my own Nothing means a thing to me Oh, nothing means a thing to me It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive If you don't have it you're on the other side I'm not an addict, maybe that's a lie Free me, leave me Watch me as I'm going down and Free me, see me Look at me, I'm falling and I'm falling It is not a habit It is cool, I feel alive, I feel It is not a habit It is cool, I feel alive It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive If you don't have it you're on the other side I'm not an addict, maybe that's a lie I'm not an addict I'm not an addict I'm not an addict

This song has gotten me through rough times, I was a terrible opiate addict for almost 5 years then I decided to get clean . I'm 2 years 3 months sober. True story when I was exactly 1 year sober I went out to a bar with a bunch of friends and sang this song on karokee, I had to hold back my tears while singing and when I finished the whole place went silent. The previous songs had all been upbeat etc....lol...anyways...great tune

first time i heard this, i was with my GF in the real late 90s early 00s and it was so intense to me... of course, she was using hard drugs, and you can NEVER compete w/ drugs... she was addicted, and at the time, sober and in full opiate w/d, and playing this song made her break down in tears.... intense. i hear she's alive & well today! so, thats inspiring... i still love this song

i'm about 12 hours clean and free.. replaying this song over and over again keeps me straight i feel like... it breaks me down on why i cant be straight (sober) all the time.. i think i'm doing good. then time goes by and i realized i've just justified using other things to compensate.. times are bad right now but they arent always bad. this life is just hard. i wouldnt change it for anyones elses cuz i've experienced alot of things and i feel i live life to the fullest.. its just right now is hard.. wish me luck for more sober days ;)

I agree with Meteora75. You have a three year old daughter, if that doesn't make you want to change then nothing will. You sound like you have changed one addiction for another. After suffering from depression myself I managed to pull myself out of it, by finding out what I was passionate about, singing and playing guitar. And I find that doing those things for myself and my children, my dog and my husband. Well, they saved my life. That is all!

Tim de Vries Well said: _"always gives me a chill but warmth at the same time"_ Like the warm rush of heroin use...followed by the cold nihilism of withdrawal. This song perfectly encapsulates that incredibly subtle feeling that only addicts can understand. It really distills the ineffable love/hate relationship of drugs into a perfectly-written pop song. Drugs are the greatest dream imaginable *_and_* the worst nightmare conceivable.

Very nice. Thanks for the video. "... More emotional than american version. Rare." This is the only version I've ever heard. I must've missed something over the years then. Love this piece btw.

Once upon a time whenever I'd hear this song it would always make want to use that special substance this song is about...but then after, when I'd listen to it, I couldn't feel feelings enough to really enjoy it the way I did when I had my head on straight. That's a special brand of irony that lifestyle will show you over and over...

yeah, you got the right substance by the sound of it... and when you hear it now.. does it make you feel again? (assuming you kicked your habit? )

Yeah, sure, whatever. There are some good songs, but there's a lot more garbage, canned music than I have seen since the bubble-gum pop of the early 70's...it's that bad now. Most everything sounds the same. Sad.

Its always meant something, they just keep changing what that something means. now what something means something different / weird and you're afraid of it. Its okay it happened to the music of my teenage years and it will happen to this new generation of kids too...

Anyone actually see the amazing aspect of drug use? For example if your brain didn't have certain receptors drugs would have absolutely no effect. The fact that our brain has these receptors allows us to feel these effects. Now granted the brain probably wasn't meant to have a stream of opiates flooding into these receptors all at once but I still think it's interesting that it's actually a natural thing.

Yeah, that "all natural" angle's going to help out HEAPS when you're writhing in agony on a bed in Intensive care. You might need to listen to the song again. Please don't ever become a parent.

I think I understand what Krumple is trying to say. For instance, what purpose in nature does an opiate plant (poppy) serve? Why does it exist? And why do human brains have receptors the molecules can attach to? Same with Marijuana plants. I haven't researched the reasons, but was always curious. I think you might have taken Krumple's comment out of context. I do not think he was advocating drug use.

i believe those certain plants are here for 2 main purposes, maybe other reasons too. down through the ages, man kind has always had choices. we can choose to do whats right or we can choose a bad path in life. fortunately bad choices are forgivable but turning away from bad choices is a struggle that non-users have never had to live with. there is also a non-recreational use, as in surgery. how painful would surgery be if anesthesia didn't exist? it may not even be survivable. there is this downside to recreational/abuse, a nurse was telling me that a heroin addict needed surgery. they pumped him full of pain killers, but to no avail. he should have ODed with all they'd given him. to the best of my knowledge, he had no choice but to suffer. if you use up that magic bullet for recreation, it wont be there when you need it most.
