Hii.i dont where are you from but I'm turkish and i learn about sultans ib our historical books. You are right hurrem sultan(rolexandara) was the first powerful woman in ottoman empire but as further we go in history we found more powerful womans even more than hurrem sultan! For example safiya sultan was a sultan that kill her husband and make his sun sultan of ottoman(because her husband wants to kill his own sun😔) and she's became the nayibi saltanat for 16 years(in comments you call him a bich😡😡). Then kosem sultan was valide sultan of 3 kings!!!!at the end turhan was the last powerful woman and after that there was no powerful woman becuse french colonialism😭i just want to tell you this is not important that which one is more powerful the point is all of those woman made historical period (saltanat of womans)and they become the honor of my country 😇💗

Actually, today I understood something. All the names given her really suited her. First, Anastasia, because she was born again after a kind of depression she fell into when kidnapped. Then, Hatice, because her strong and mature self was born waaaayyy tooo early, at the age of 13! Then Mahpeyker, because she was as beautiful and shiny as the moon. Her positive, innocent and optimistic energy brightened Ahmed's life like the moon brightening the night his life had fallen into. And finally, Kosem. Hm, she guided Ahmed to happiness, her children, and the Ottoman empire. She eventually drew all of them, especially her sons, to death. But every empire was kind of hell and road to death and thr endless darkness.

In the Ottoman tradition a free woman could not enter the harem so that Christian girls and boys were kidnapped in order to become slaves. Kosem Sultan was indeed the most powerful woman in the Ottoman history. It is us humans who write and tell the history sometimes different to the reality. Anastasia was the daughter of a Greek priest possibly from the island of Kefalonia or from the island of Lesvos. Her father was told several times to scar Anastasia because of her beauty. It was a tradition in many Christian nations to scar or make a tattoo on the face of their children in order to avoid kidnapping. Tattooing was a tradition for that reason among Greeks Armenians and Bosnians. In the end as we know she managed to rule the Ottoman empire. In the Vatican archives there are letters signed “Regina Anactacia” it is believed it is from her to the Pope. Also the secret garden in the palace was not a garden at all. After her death a secret church of St George was discovered in the palace. Kosem was practising Christianity. She was paying the taxes of the Greek people who could not pay and everyone knew that. The turkish public did not like Kosem at all, they were calling her a whore and other insults. This is why they built the Blue Mosque in order to control the public. She was powerful because she had the favour of the jennisaries and this why she managed to rule for a long time. Kosem was the most powerful woman in Ottoman history and for this reason there is a huge cover up of the reality in order the turkish public is not provoked. Also i forget to say that during her reign they complete the list of the nations that could hold high post in the goverment, guess what the turks were in the end of the list. Love from Greece 💙
