K-Series Idle Air Assist Valve (IAAV) Delete

Welcome back to another video! In this video I will be showing you guys how to delete the Idle Air Assist Valve or IAAV for short. This is a very easy and subtle way of cleaning up the engine bay and getting rid of a few hoses near the valve cover/Throttle body area.

Iirc, on the tee u broke, the threaded portion is fixed on the valve so it won’t spin off bc the tee will hit the valve cover when unscrewing. So either have to break off or remove the valve cover. U did it right by breaking it by accident!

I was thinking of doing that, but I haven't gotten any leaks surprisingly! I checked every so often after installing it

@@dc5ronin150 you got.lucky I put. A ktuned k swapp adapter there with teflon tape and leaks one droplet of coolant .Getting so annoying went with hybrid racing adapter gonna put Honda bond it and and let it sit.

the metal tube sticking out the side of the valve cover, can that be capped off or put a little cone filter?

Did you have to upgrade the fuel rail?? And if so, I see a racing fuel rail but does just a basic one work?

@@rinserepeat2877 I believe it can be removed by braking the piece that's missing on mine. However removing the fuel rail would make it so you can keep the part in tact

Can someone PLEASE show me EXACTLY where the IACV is and what it looks like? My 2013 Si is idling like ass and i want to check/clean it but i'm not too sure where it is and if its one you can just take out and clean

It's underneath the throttle body, at least that's how it is for RSX/ep3/si

What would be the benefit?… will this delete affect any other sensors??

Personal preference and cleaning tubing in the engine bay, it can affect your car's idle if your IACV if it's not working correctly.

I have mine removed. I have not broke it. Also it barley spun off?? Can I brake the top off and put it back In the motor? What is the problem with that??? Also what is the size of the hex bolt? Please help 2011 Honda element

Would not recommend installing a broken one, you can remove the valve cover to install it back on without breaking. Or install a plug. Also, i do not remember the size but I'm pretty sure i stated in the video what size it was.

i had to remove my stock fuel rail to do this and i completed it.. but now my car isn’t starting. by chance do you know what i could have done wrong?

Make sure you have all the wires connected. Your car doesn't need this valve to run unless you have a bad IACV

@@dc5ronin150 i’ll double check the wires. could it be any issue with the fuel rail or the injectors it was running fine before. some gas is kind of leaking out of the fuel rail also

@@jf8322 pretty sure you need an adapter for the TB. Unless you run a RBC specific throttle body. I know Hybrid racing sells them along with multiple other companies if you want to go a different route

That is called the Idle air asist valve (IAAV) and im sure you can get it from you local honda dealer or online.

The IAAV only controls how the engine idles. Don't affect the emissions of the vehicle.

@@dc5ronin150 thank you! I’m just trying to figure it out if a broken IAAV is the cause of idle surging. The idle surge goes away when the car is warmed up. I replaced the IACV and still is idle surging. I’m going to see if it’s the Throttle body next.

Thanks for the video. However, I mean no offense but that is not a sensor. It is just a valve that opens when the engine coolant is under 140 degF (don't quote me on that) and closes when the temperature is above that. When it is open, it allows air to bypass the throttle body and go directly into the intake manifold which makes the engine try to run a bit lean. The engine tries to compensate by adding more fuel which raises the RPM and thus warming the engine faster (warming the engine faster is better for the catalytic converter and oil viscosity). The Idle Control Valve under the throttle body will not do this. Its purpose is only to regulate the idle RPM. Unfortunately if your Air Assist Control Valve is bad, it can stick open like mine and cause your ECU to throw a lean code.

Thank you for explaining this it’s hard to find information on this part. I’m having idle issues and I’ll check if it’s still pulling vacuum when the engine is up to temp.

its 131° so you were pretty close bro😂 my car is running STUPID lean and i think its because of this, the valve isn't creating a vacuum when it shuts and it leaks air causing my car to run 10% more lean then regular. hopefully this is genuinely the issue i cant find any info on this part either.

@@yessirskiott8778 ah yea, I hear ya on that. It may very well be causing your lean condition. You might be able to borrow/buy a scan too from AutoZone and while you're running the engine, look at the short and long term fuel trims. See if they dip lower when you plug your finger over that valve. You can probably see whether or not that valve is causing your problem this way. I had the same thing but my problem ended up being just because I have a k-swap essentially.

I bought a 2004 honda crv and after driving it a few days I got a p0507 code, iacv I've not took it apart to clean it yet but looking around i noticed that the air assist valve was broken on both ends where the hose goes. They where flush and sealed off with something. The two hose that go to it where plugged off with bolts. Could this be my problem? My idle barely goes up and down about 100 rpm over 1k. @@charliedc2A Hmm, if your air assist is cracked in those two spots, then yea it might be the cause of your high idle. It depends on if the cracks are big enough to let a lot of air in. You may have a vacuum leak somewhere else however. If you don't find any vacuum leaks anywhere, it could be a faulty idle control valve also.

I actually snapped mine. So i figured i might as well delete it. If your IACV id working properly. You dont need the IAAV
