Historically Dosa is originated in Udupi, Karnataka and Idli also originated in Karnataka . These peoples always have so much obsession with Karnataka , they will claim every greatest thing is related to their culture whatever it may be. Uttapam was originated in Tamil Nadu but it was evolved from dosa only instead of claiming uttapam they are claiming Dosa, Idli etc.
