How things have changed in the DMC finals with djs now,when I saw DJ Cheese win this title in London in 1986,he blew everyone away with his 3 turntables and frantic record changing,no cueing etc straight into the action,I’ve been into hip hop since 84 and even though I’m nearly 60 I still love hip hop and all it brings although my heart still yearns the golden era of hip hop,mid 80s-early 90s,DMC and Technics have always brought us all innovative DJ sets from the worlds best DJ’s and the technology is moving forward so fast from Cheese’s days

spot on, although i still appreciate the skills still required today on digital vinyl, its not the same,there job has been made easier but they haven't achieved anything new in the mix,no new techniques.just some pads and effects . old-school changing vinyl or getting multitrack vinyl's made for your specific set and manualy cueing besides scratching ,it was much more challenging and defo hats off to older dmc champs.

I agree with a lot of the comments re the old dmc championships being way better. A lot gets lost in the digital format. Hence the more "jumbled" sound... The older DJs mastered building up the set into a peak and juggling on actual vinyl sounds waaaayyy better. Props though, just prefer a set thats more smooth with the tunes and when and where to showcase the scratches etc... but some would say im old and stuck in the past..

Craze DMC 2000 still beats this set hands down 23 years later! Musically, originality, beat precision plus the technical skill in using vinyl…. K-Swiss has skills but not really seen anything original in DMC for over 10 years. Seems the judging criteria is how fast you can juggle or scratch regardless of whether it has musical quality or originality or actually sounds any good. Having skills is all well and good, but if it doesn’t sound any good then DMC will continue to only ever appeal to niche turntablist geeks like me 👀
