No problem! The one that has to be employed is your fiance. As long as he is above the poverty guideline levels you shouldn't have any issues with the financial part. Either way, it's a good sign that you have gotten some visas approved. But yeah I wouldn't worry too much. If you followed all the instructions correctly you should be fine!

Jayca 0913 Hope I’m not too late, but here it is. When you’re initially submitting I-129F to USCIS, you have to have as much evidence to prove your relationship with fiance as possible. Evidence includes but is not limited to: • travel together (tickets and bookings) • phone calls and messages • money transfers • affidavits for intent to marry • affidavits from family and friends to attest the true nature of your relationship and intent to marry • if you have planned a wedding, receipts for anything like venue or dress/suit, invitations, etc. Other than this, you’d have to submit basic biographic documents such as passport, birth certificate, marriage and divorce certificates, 2 passport-style photos for each (petitioner and beneficiary), and a filing fee to DHS in amount of $535.00.

The US fiance needs to be making an income above the poverty guidelines. Bank statements do help and they might look at them. A specified amount is not required but every case is different so have as much proof as you can.

Gladys Lyle It’s different for different countries. I scheduled my own interview. But you should follow the steps that NVC will give you through email or mailed documents. Once the consulate receives your approved petition, they will let you know what you need to do next.

Hi Galissa. Yes, some people bring a copy of the exact same I-129 packet. It is not necessary but people do it to be safe. It is up to you. Do bring your affidavit of support documentation and whatever other documents that are essential to your case.

I have a question, how do you plan the wedding date in advance if you are not even sure of when the packet will be approved ? and if everything completed is going to be done on time for me (the foreign fiance) to get to the sates a few weeks before the wedding? You don't. You wait until you're approved is the best thing you can do. It's not ideal, but if something was to go wrong and you have to cancel all the reservations it requires for your wedding let alone tell all your friends to re-book flights... It just doesn't seem worthwhile to me until you know you've been approved. I've been waiting to book a date for over a year now.

Studio Vulcan You do not receive a Green Card after fiance visa processing. Once you apply for I-485 Adjustment of Status, it takes about a year to get an interview. After that, if all if approved and well, it should not take more than 1-2 months for your green card to arrive to your doorstep.

I'm currently waiting that time frame. It was so nice to receive a letter stating I was approved and this three year bs process is finally over! :)

Studio Vulcan So you already had your adjustment of status interview? Yes I agree, these petitions take anywhere from 1-2 years or more depending on country and individual case. Very annoying. Although I-485 process is much easier and quicker than VAWA petitions. They are the longest I think. (Besides asylum). Once you’re done with the interview and have the final approval letter for your “marriage-based case”, then it really should not take more than a month to get a green card. Hi Elizabeth, Every country is different. I did my medical exam in a different state/city where I had my interview. What I did was call and check if they were certified to perform medical tests on american visa applicants. I would suggest you to call the medical clinic and ask because it is possible to do it in whatever city is easier for you. Good luck.

david banner banner All petitioners have to submit form I-134 for K1 visas. Only your fiance from abroad has to submit the affidavit of support. You don’t have to. But if you will be using your own funds (like if you have couple thousand dollars in savings) you can bring it just in case.

I was in the US last year under J1 visa and i was able to meet my fiance for a couple of times during my stay but my fiance hasnt visited me in my country would that be a problem or not as long as you met each other personally within 2years before applying the k1 visa. Hi I have a question. 4 years ago I had an esta entry removal (they didn't let me into the country because I had traveled there too soon for my previous stay) and then a tourist and student visa disapproval because they said I didn't have enough funds to show. Now 4 years later I want to marry my man and I'm wondering will all these be a problem to get the k1? None of us has a criminal record. I'm not banned or never did anything illegal they just said to me that I need to get a visa to travel to US and show the US embassy that I have the proper requirements. Any help would be much appreciated thanks!

lkjlk897798789 I don’t think it would be an issue. If your previous visas were denied because of financial reasons, and now you have a sponsor for K1 visa, no criminal history or any other troubles like lying during an interview, then you should be just fine. I’d recommend consulting with a lawyer though.

Your fiance should apply for their passport, and apply for the visa. Make sure to have all necessary things to get visa approved.

Passport has to be valid for at least 6 months at the time of the interview. Noone can travel without a passport.
