J stone, finally, someone who can answer my question. What is the clip on the gaiter for?

It’s so you can hook the clip from your pant gaiter to your boot to keep snow out when hiking in deep snow. Special request from Sage to add that to the design

Brands need to bring back the steel BOA. The textil one always ripps appart eventually if you are a local who rides everyday, no matter how much they insist that there's no difference. Yes there's a big difference, otherwise they wouldn't make the steel version. Sadly, the problem with the steel version is that it's so strong that what gets ripped off is the buckles. Those are the problems I've experienced with BOA through the years and several models and brands, and I don't want it anymore. Nice review though.

Exactly! Yes the steel boa cable ripps the buckles apart ! My wive and i had some boa boots.... dead (we live 10 minutes from the big resorts in france). Went back to speed lace on nitro , northwave and burton, way better but not perfect. Honestly now the perfect lacing system would be traditional lace plus big straps on the upper part of the boot. And it exists, but on 'non core brands' or small brands , such deeluxe team , northwave decade pro or even Head snowboards team boot (not sexy huh?). But as you can't really find and try them in shops, ill stick to what fits me most now: nitro. The only advantage of boa is that it is very thin and it prevents from pressure point from the contact with the ankle stap. So maybe boa for ankle zone but not for the upper zone.

do you rest your board edge on the top of your boot while riding the chair lift? I got about 120 days on a pair of these Ortons and had no issues. a good amount of those days were snowmobiling which puts your boots through the ultimate durability test. when i'm riding the chair i never put my edge on top of my boa laces (steel or fabric) and rest it on the toe of my boot
