This is a review of the K2 Trio LT 100 Inline skates.
The K2 Trio LT 100 Inline skates come with 83a hardness 100mm wheels and ILQ-7 bearings which are decent.
I found the K2 Trio LT 100 Inline skates fit too large and the 'quicklace' system to be totally brutal...even with the laces cranked as tight as possible my heels were still rising and my knees and ankles could not compensate for the poor fitment. These skates fit too large to be careful when sizing them.

So I got a pair in size EU 42 (I'm 42.5) I found the lacing system is effective when you gently push on the tongue at the 45 degree strap point. If you don't do that the lacing system is not engaging on the right spots. You need to guide it. After learning that I can feel how the tongue totally conforms to my foot as I pull the strings.

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Here's my updated reply, for some reason KZbin doesn't let me edit the original: Do you still have some K2 with quick lacing to try it out and confirm? :) So I got a pair in size EU 42 (I'm 42.5) I found the lacing system is effective when you gently push on the tongue at the 45 degree strap point and at the top, making it sink easier. If you don't do that the lacing system is not engaging on the right spots and the tongue bottom never touches the top of your foot. You need to guide it. I was aware of your warning and was just trying solutions that didn't involve just pulling real hard (also having in mind laces longevity) because I thought there must be a "correct" way to use that system but there's no manual anywhere. (is there any?) After trial and error and finding the right way, I can feel how the tongue totally conforms to my foot as I pull the strings. So much the 45 degree velcro felt it was there for extra support cause the tongue was doing a real good job. That said, I'm using my skates for cardio and recreation (replacement for running) so I'm not going for very long rides (yet) I can tell my heel rises a bit only if I attempt to rise the heel wheels (ride on the toe wheel) which requires a lot of forward pressure. But during strides I feel my heels are sitting on the bottom of the skate.

@@SaccoBelmonte I tried this trick in my MOD110's right after I read your comment and it kept my heel down 50% better than before! Pretty excited to try taking them on a longer skate tomorrow. Best I've been able to do in them so far is 10-15 uncomfortable kilometers. I'm using skating to replace running as well. Thanks again for taking the time to leave this awesome tip!!

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer I have an update: I sold my Trio and got Twister Edge XTs and 1103WD pairs. Now I understand what you say. The trio definitely has a worse heel pocket...probably the lacing system is not the problem, is that heel pocket that doesn't really grab your heel properly and tends to rise a couple cm's especially when riding backwards. It was only once I tried the Twister Edges that I was like OOOOHHHH! .... seems like Rollerblade has a deeper understanding of what a good skate is. Suddenly you feel you're riding skates that are truly part of your body and you have total control. When you ride on your toe wheels you can clearly feel how you're "grabbing" the skates with your heels.

They have a boa model for the same boot. I don't know about the fit, but the BOA might help. I've recently fallen apon your channel and your reviews are great and helped me buy my first inline skates in a long time. Thank you. I bought k2 vo2 90mm but they don't make them big enough for me. Their size 14 was too small, but overall they where a nice boot. They didn't have the boa, they did have their speed lacing system and I agree, it doesn't tighten the foot like it should. I also has an issue with there vo2 ventilation system, over half the vents where blocked by the mold, preventing the ventilation to work at all. Their top plastic ladder strap also couldn't get tight enough for me. I know your vo2 100 have the boa, so that might have fixed the problem, but overall I was unimpressed with the quality of k2

I agree with you 100% Chad, the overall quality and attention to fitment detail leaves a lot to be desired especially on the newer models considering the price. Thank you for the comment! I'm going to have to try the boa model in these, I was unaware one was available! I bet with size 14's finding your perfect size is a challenge especially with K2. Really happy to hear the videos help, makes making them worthwhile! Hopefully we can save others time and money by helping them avoid the hassles we have encountered. Thanks again for you insight and happy skating!!

I got the Boa version in the mail today. Was surprised af cuz first blades in 20 years (am 32 now) and it felt like I had never stopped after 10 mins refreshing myself. Very comfortable zooming around the block a mile or so, though can tell there's a lot of stabilizer muscles I've neglected in that aspect. I think you're dead on with the footbed being rather flat, but I'm used to Boa from snowboarding and knew I had to go that way from the start and both were listed when I ordered. Feels great all the way around the feet, but improper technique really hurts quick on the soles of the feet and makes you dial in quick. I of course didn't try the non-Boa version, but I could imagine how loose spots or hot spots could happen with how soft the boot is. I appreciate the softness of the boot with the balance of the Boa since my memories of childhood skates were of going miles with tubs of cheap, thick, probably Walmart-based plastic and bloody socks on my feet lol. Stoked to get back into it after years off 🤙

You made an excellent call getting the BOA version!! And also by getting back into inline skating, such a fun way to get in cardio that doesn't really feel like the drudgery of running but same benefits. That's sweet it came back so fast after 20 years off!! Some people like yourself are just naturals. I just tested out the trio 110 today and I think you have the better of the two pairs for sure, Especially with the boa laces. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment, really appreciate it! Happy skating!!

I just got the K2 Trio LT 100 2024 model and it fits well. It fits more narrow than my K2 Kinetic skates. For me, I find it more stable than K2 Kinect. It’s not a fair comparison as I’m comparing aluminum frame with plastic frame. 2024 model feels very fitted for me. I was able to skate on 100mm wheels over 1 hour without feeling uncomfortable.

Great review. I don’t want to give up on soft boot skates and was inquiring on the 3 wheel K2 100 to compare them to my Sodo’s but If you want to try a great fitting 3 wheel skate try the FR FR3 110” it’s a hard boot skate, I’ve been using them for over 2 years and they are really comfortable. Those are my go to skates for windy days.

Hi Casey if I can find a boa version to try I absolutely will. Slim pickings sometimes up here in Canada unfortunately. I found the exact same thing with my V02'S (s100) at first. I bought them online so I was stuck with them and had to find a way to make them work. They were too narrow so I changed out the Cheap insole for a super rigid one that was not only much more comfortable on the bottom of my foot but gave my wide-ish feet just the little bit more room they needed in the toe box. For the first 500km or so I also had to skate with them done up loosely. They broke in quite a bit after 1000km and became my favorite most comfortable skates. After 1000km I got a thicker more comfortable insole and was able to do them up a little tighter. Not sure if you are keeping yours but if so hopefully those little tricks help. The V02'S are wicked skates (once they fit comfortably and properly). Hope that helps any other questions feel free to ask!

I actually had the opposite experience with these (newer model). I am size 10US but with a rather wide foot; they are a little too tight especially in the inner part of the foot bridge, it gets uncomfortable really quickly but haven't experience any lift (I assume this has to do with fitting the heel pocket but not the bridge narrow). I should have gone with 10.5US like in my K2 FIT 84 BOAs or with Macroblades 3WDs or RB 110s for my tri-skates. What I definitely agree with is on the speed lace system, it's very difficult to cinch them properly even with the 45deg tongue tip. It takes about three tries of moving and adjusting to get them right while the BOA system is just so easy. If you are going to go with a K2 Trio, go for the BOA version.

Thank you for the comment Alonso! Those are fantastic skates, love my pair and still use them all the time. They're on their 3rd set of wheels, hope you get that much use out of yours too! I don't use any protection for my body other than a helmet. I found knee pads interfered with my joint movement and led to knee pain and the other I seem to get by without. That being said I have a lot of skating experience both ice and road so I feel like the risk is less. Its definitely a good idea to wear protective equipment but I won't be much help in that department. Thanks again and happy skating!

I've never owned any other models so I can't say how the women's sizing compares, but I'm a size 7 shoe and the 8 fits just right. Any smaller they'd be too tight. So I wouldn't suggest sizing down for women I'm also not crazy about the lacing but I can get them pretty tight. I'm really considering just getting regular laces though

My local shop has these....but not in my size (closes is 1.5 sizes bigger) so I can't try them out. They're returnable but I'll have to pay for shipping. A $hitty lace system is the worst. I dont want to miss this deal either, been waiting so long to finally get into inline skating.

If you find a pair that fit your feet well (snug but not tight) and that's your only option then yes I think they are worth it. I think 3 wheel skates are kind of intense for most beginners to learn on you will see what I mean once you get going fast on them it takes a while to get a feel for how to control them. That being said, some athletic people who have skating experience have no trouble at all, it's highly dependent on the person. I hope that helps you! Any other questions feel free to ask!
