Spent the past two years really struggling with my golf game (16 hdcp). Took the single plane method from the range to the course yesterday and lo and behold a miracle seemed to have taken place. Shot 2 over par!! It's been YEARS since I hit the ball this well! I made no changes to any of my equipment, just implemented the single-plane philosophy. Even purged my mind of all the "swing thoughts" minutiae I'd accumulated over many years.

The basics never get old. This is my third season after having adopted this method. My swing is definitely more consistent and rhythmic. This is obviously the best method for anyone new to golf. Thanks, Kirk, for sharing these basics so generously.

Did you and Tony change the lies of your irons? As I look in the mirror with my new setup the heels of my standard lie Epon forged irons are up
@jareroken9127Ай бұрын
One of my work colleagues plays this way, he's an exceptional golfer. He changed to this quite a few years ago and just never looked back. He hits a nice small draw but the main thing he has is lovely contact with the ball. I'm planning on learning this, I can be patient and start from the beginning, little shots and pitches..

Hi Kirk. I too tried the Moe Norman style of playing. I did pretty good for a while, then tinker with my swing and tried the conventional style again. Now at 75, I’m totally lost. Your program looks great and makes sense to me. I had gone from hitting long, high irons to thin and toed shots. Distance was gone and I was totally frustrated.

Aim your stance/body a bit to the left, and open the clubface at setup. Make your normal swing and the ball will fade/slice.

WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON SINGLE LENGTH CLUBS LIKE BRYSON USES? thanks, new sub
@Setup4ImpactАй бұрын
Hi Billy!! I do not recommend them due to a lack of good fitting options. Most people would need more than 4 degrees between clubs in order get the proper distance gaps between clubs. This is what Bryson says as well.

Whatever fits you conventionally will likely fit you if you swing on a single plane. There should not be a difference.

Hi ! You seem to hit the ground with driver the same spot as any iron. How is it possible as driver should have a minimum upwards trajectory ?
@Setup4Impact3 ай бұрын
I do not hit the ground with the driver, but if it did it would be before it gets to the ball. So the clubhead would be moving slightly upward.

Hi Kirk, can you explain club and arm being one? When I set-up with club/arm straight line, lets say 7 iron, feel,I need to close my stance to keep that arm/club being a straight line. I hit a lot of weak slice shots, contact feels "slappy", it starts right and keeps going right. I hope I'm explaining this in a way you can understand.

With this swing and every swing I try I still struggle with coming over the top any tips?
@Setup4Impact6 ай бұрын
If you get setup as I teach and then get hands leading as my drill show you how to do then you cannot come over the top. Typically this issue comes from a setup with too weak of a grip, poor alignment, and other factors. Nobody I teach comes over the top.

Kirk, love the videos and been working on transitioning to this. I currently play One Iron Golf single length clubs, they advise to set up in middle of stance. should i keep this same ball position? or move it forward to better achieve this set up as you teach it.

I would recommend varying the ball position. Otherwise the 4, 5, 6 irons will fly too low and short.

At impact, professional players appear to have their right arm bent with the upper part against their right rib cage. The hips have rotated and so the the club handle is close to the right hip. Should I also build this in to my setup position? I tend to come Into impact fairly upright with both arms long, right arm minimally bent, followed by a flat shoulder turn. I also tend to slide through impact. Doesn’t look pretty. I think I have a real lack of hinge. Should I try to change?

If you want to improve then change is necessary. Setting up more like you need to be at impact makes it easier to improve. More info at setup4impact.com/online/

I like the look of your method and have tried it. It produces straight, low flying shots. How do I produce consistent, high flying shots with this method?
@Setup4Impact6 ай бұрын
The clubface needs to be square to a straight path at impact. You have to fix impact. Most people are focused on 100 different things besides impact. If we setup in close to our impact position then we can focus on making impact great.
@tomhanks63516 ай бұрын
@@Setup4Impact Thank you. Why not then have the hips and legs and upper body in the same impact position but at setup?

Kirk, Guess I'm no different than many others in the confusion department. I'm sure you're familiar with Todd and Tim Graves. Tim insists that a proper fitting for a single plane swing (a static fitting) is a must in order to take the clubs out of the equation as an excuse. They would be the basis to measure whether you are on a single plane. I heard you say that it wasn't necessary to be fitted any differently. I got fitted at a reputable place last fall and received a Trackman report including a suggestion of what irons and shafts to purchase. Tim's response to my physical measurements and swing speed led him to suggest a completely different shaft. The shafts after the dynamic fit last fall would be TT Elevate MPH 95 S, Tim suggested Regular graphite shafts. He too has been at it for 27 years, and is a master fitter. They've tried to perfect or recreate Moe's swing. Clubs are expensive -- don't know what to do. Fix swing, then buy or buy for single plane and hope for the best?
@Setup4Impact6 ай бұрын
Hi Jon, Do you think that clubs that you have never tried, or even made a swing with could somehow be better then what you went through in your fitting where you actually could measure what happened with the clubs you tried? There is no person on earth who could determine what shaft/club combination is best for you without even seeing you make one golf swing, or without having you actually try different combinations of shafts/clubs. Believe it or not, but some fitters will tell you what you need without an actual fitting, and that happens to be the very club that they make the most money on. Some fitters also only offer one brand for fitting, strange but true..

18:19 coming from the inside and closing the club head through impact… isn’t this how we generate distance? I hit short and I believe this is the reason…? How far do you hit your 7 iron?

If you come from inside and close the clubface the ball will hook. No top players do this.

@Setup4Impact6 ай бұрын
No top players have ever twisted their arm through impact. That would be impossible to get right every time. The best players have always had more passive hands through impact. Science has proven this over and over again. Match what top players look like at impact, not what they say they do.

13:53 isn’t it the face rotation that creates effortless club head and ball speed?
@Setup4Impact6 ай бұрын
Not at all. The top players have less clubface rotation at impact than amateurs. Face rotation also cannot create anything, it is created in a poor swing at impact. The best players have little to no rotation around impact, and it is parametric accelleration that is responsible for speed in top players. My drills teach you how to do this properly.
