Thanks for the video. I have done displays like this and just sprayed black paint on the back of the plexiglass and the engraved a reverse image of the writing and cut out the holes. No need for a second black background.

Great stuff! I really like the look of your panel. The edge lighting is quite clever and the light source is doing double duty to boot. I'm happy to subscribe.

Can you tell me what kind of crimp terminals those are that you are using? You put them on the wires to the power supply. They're just straight and you can trim them short. Looks like it would take the place of tinning your wires or it will keep the strands wires together and make it one good solid connection.
@letsfixit15944 жыл бұрын
Hi James, They are crimp sleeves for multi-strand cable, they help when you have a screw type connector which has the tendency to spread apart under pressure and dosen´t make connect with the entire surface of the wire.

Very good explanation. But can you please tell us where to purchase all items needed for this machine update of control panel? I mean the web links. Thank you very much.

Great video! How thick is that acrylic for the panel cutout?
@letsfixit15944 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, you can use 2, 3 or 4 mm.

Beware, at about 15:40, that small power supply may suddenly burn. I had bad luck with those from BG and two of three suddenly went dead - one silently, another with some cracking noise.
@letsfixit15944 жыл бұрын
Hi Milan, thx for the tip, I have used a few of these and never had any problem and in this circumstance are drawing very little current.

I notice in your original panel on the other machine, you had blue LED switches for the air extract and water pump as well. On this you have red... Did the others not work correctly or what?
@letsfixit15942 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben, no both worked, it's only the color.

I was just wondering. Looked like the old panel was 12v switches and the new is 220v
@letsfixit15942 жыл бұрын
Ah sorry! yes you are correct, it was while ago. It was a bit tricky but not impossible to use the led switchers but you would have to use relays so it was easier to use 230v neon switchers for these 2.

Your Links to ebay are not working - others I did'nt try
@Fujikatoma4 жыл бұрын
Why did you use 2 different type of switches ? There is a 10A version of the on/off latch switchers
@letsfixit15944 жыл бұрын
Hi Lars, The 2 switchers for the water pump and extraction fan are switching mains voltage and are rated so, they also have a neon light in them which makes it easier, rather than trying to light an LED with 230v.

How does the test fire switch differ from the other 3?
@letsfixit15944 жыл бұрын
It´s a momentary switch which basically means when you push it, it will turn off when you release the switch unlike a latch switch which will remain on.

@@letsfixit1594 is the voltage/current rating any different?

would it not have been better to take AC from the back where the two Prong plugs are? I am only asking because that's what I'm thinking of doing
@ryanlangan10604 жыл бұрын
Those plugs are notorious for melting at a very modest current. There isn't much you can use them for. I plan on replacing my plugs and wiring them with a separate wall cord that can support accessories like the exhaust fan, water pump, and air pump.

Does your k40 cut acrylic in one pass?
@letsfixit15943 жыл бұрын
Hi Mario, I have had 3 different machines and the first 2 would cut through no problem but the 3rd one needed 2 passes on 3mm, have not worked out why.
