Excellent video Rob. Much clarity gained on the K66 Transaxle fluid. Yesterday had to change the fan on top of it, hell of a job, and doing that I realized actually this guy has a need for oil.. lol.. - Great suggestion to plug two holes in the Plate to access the 2 top oil caps, as well as painting the 2 draining screw/plugs. Thank you, great job.

Excellent! Thank You! Your video helped me a lot. I have Husqvarna GT54LS with K66 Tuff torque 190 hrs. A plastic gas tank covers the top of the tranny. I was able to get to the gear side top plastic threaded fill hole plug with the left tire removed and reaching to unscrew it by hand. I drilled and cut to enlarge an existing hole in the back to insert the fill tube. I would have preferred to use full synthetic 5w50 but I had some mobile one 15w50 so I used it. I filled the gear side very slowly with a flex hose inserted from the back and moved the hubs back and forth to get air out. This went very smooth with no issues.... but like I said I was only doing the gear side to start with. I took it for a test ride and the difference was AMAZING. All the speed and torque was back. I have not yet changed the hydrostatic side. but I did make a small square access hole for it on the rear so I could get to the over flow jug. My point is...... I am surprised the result I got just doing the left Gear side. UPDATE: I got the hydro side done. It took a HECK of a LONG time filling through the overfill jug. and purging air. I will check and top off again after a few weeks of use. note: my husky k66 has a hydro side OIL FILTER located at the front side of the transaxle (per the deck side). Its a large flat plastic screw in plug. The machine is is no longer sluggish and moves like new.

Tuff torq calls for removing the overflow tube housing, I guess to allow air to more easily escape, it means removing the seat, platform and fuel tank etc. . I upgraded my 510 hour D160 with a k66y, and updated hubs,, wheels and tires. Things are tight. I ll try the overflow overfill method, but it seems like it might take as long as full disassembly. I now also a have a goal of getting air with the front wheels .....great job

I have a Scott’s 2554 with this transaxle in it and it has a fill cap under the seat. I’m assuming that’s for the reservoir, I better check if there’s another one before I get into this job

Great video I know K66 is better than K62 but the cases are same. I have a K62 in my JD 190C and I would like to add those access holes for the gear fill & plastic reservoir. What size holes & where is center for each? The K62 needs to have air purged out during refill. What a PITA, I used my drill on nut for fan (pushing forward & reverse lever back & forth as well as bypass valve) and it took me over 2 hours before I saw the fluid level change. After reinstalling transaxle it still took a while before trans would engage. So I figure fluid levels dropped and access holes would be very helpful.
@RobHoffmann202 жыл бұрын
If your planning to drill holes I would say simply to try to align with the areas you require access to. The placement isn't crucial if you have a flexible tube to use when refilling the unit. Yes Air lock's can be a challenge to work out of the system. Best of luck. Cheers
