I was actually going to suggest the PVC pipe. When I was a plumber, one of the other guys made a big wrench to take out a specialty plug with internal tabs by boring a hole through a piece of 3”pvc and making a T handle with 1.5” pvc, and cutting slots in the pipe to fit the tabs on the plug. My dad used steel pipe with the end ground smooth on one side to set shaft seals, or he manufactured his own tools to fit the needs of the shop the rewinding tool for starter rope recoil springs was priceless, and so were a few little modified tools for carburetor work.

@jessevickerson18715 ай бұрын
Just thought I'd let you know you installed the seal in backwards,it was correct when you removed the old seal because it's ment for the taper to be out so dirt does not get into the transmission but does allow oil to get out if needed.

I live on 5 acres and maintain it myself (have been for 45 years). I maintain my own equipment (chainsaws, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, riding mowers/garden tractors, pressure washer, log splliter, ...). I take care of my stuff so it last a long time (I purchased my JD 317 when they were new and have the Kohler Series I motor) as my John Deere is still on the original engine (no smoke) and Hydro. Where do I get parts for my stuff (JD 317, Echo, Stihl, Husqvarna, Poulan, ....). I saw you replace the axle seal and all I could think of is where the heck would I get that for my 1996 Poulan ( 18.5HP Briggs and 46 inch deck)? I only know amazon and ebay. Where do DIY guys like me get hard to find parts for our well cared for quality stuff (like original carbs or Original carb kits)? Thanks!

From my understanding Cub Cadet made a transmission for their 2160 called the Autogear Transmission. Instead of running off a hydrostatic drive it runs off multiple clutches which are attached to a 6-speed transmission. I'm curious on how it works and how to diagnose problems with that particular transmission.

Ive just speant a day trying to get the wheel hub off the axle. Its so rusted on its impossible. I then stripped the transmission so I just have the axle and hub to work with. Tried everything to get that hub off with no success. Even heated it with a blow lamp. Annoyingly its moved on the shaft and seized in a different position. Have ordered a new axle and will drill out the old one to rescue the hub.

Does a troy bilt pony have a full plug I've looked all over it and can't find one
@Steve-jy7bc7 ай бұрын
Technically what you refer to as the fill plug...is the relief plug. The actual fill plug is just forward a few inches, but on that model CC its easier to get to without removing the fan blade. On my JD l130, you have to remove the tranaxle to check or change the fluid. Its not overly difficult, but Tuff Torq could have designed them better.
