I once shook Jimbo's hand after a concert, and he told me "I'm glad there's still young people like you interested in this kind of music" amen jimbo!

Rev keeping Rock and the Billy alive through thick and thin for over 30 years. Seeing them back in the mid 90’s was a riot. If ZZ and the Stones can keep going, so should the Rev and Setzer. ‘Til the wheels fall off.

I first saw these guys at a free concert in Lawrence, KS back in the double bass drum era. 😎A die hard fan since. Some guy that sings for a band named Pearl Jam was climbing above the stage and entangled his microphone in the rafters. He tried for about five minutes to untie it, to no avail. They paused the show for some time as they attempted to unchimp the mic from the stage. You’d think they would have a back up microphone. 🤣🤣 Years later, Mr. Heath let my wife sit on the stage throughout the show at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville. Cool dudes, buy their stuff.

I had never seen RHH before and always thought their name was kinda cute and dumb. Lord have mercy was I wrong -- The Reverend Horton Heat is the most serious, blistering, insane psychobilly band out there. That's over the top quality professional musicianship, super clever lyrics and dang! Do they ever rock it!!!

Happy 61st Birthday Jim "Reverend Horton" Heath November 2 1959. Kick ass performer and a born Texan. Cheers Rev...

I'm watching this the day after my 63rd bday. Took my daughter to see the Reverend when she was only 14. Both of us were happy to witness his ferocity on guitar. One of my better memories from our life together. Unfortunately we won't share anymore, she died the day after Thanksgiving in 2019. At least we could share the simple yet complex joys that great music brings.

I love that he periodically smiles at a random member of the crowd. That stood out to me when I saw them for the first time a few months ago.

Saw the Reverend for the first time in the mid-90's. The opened up for Soundgarden... They still come to Calgary about once a year and we never miss them. What a fantastic band, still go super hard as they always have and the last few tours have brought amazing guest musicians along for the ride to keep it interesting. A must see rockabilly show.

Who in the fuck gave this 7 thumbs down!? They deserve 7 broken thumbs!!
@mountainstartemple60419 жыл бұрын
Well, I can only imagine that their thumbs must have been broken in the first place ... so they accidentally clicked the wrong button

True that.

The Great Restoration I can`t swear to ya,but I`ll betn they were being ironic! at least somewhat.Because,like where are ya even gonna get seven thumbs.Most of us only have two.
@Oilngld9 жыл бұрын
What you do is break the 2 they have...wait till they heal, break them again..that makes 4 broken thumbs...wait till they heal again, and break them all over again for a total of 8 broken thumbs...that solves the issue..

One of the hardest working bands in the business. Saw them in Spokane WA in '93. There was 10 people in the bar. They played the same as if they were in front of thousands. I've been a fan ever since. He did the Duck Walk then jumped down as he was jamming and was spinning on his back. Man, all the respect to the world to all three. I will be buying tickets to see them at the Crocodile in Seattle come Feb. Looks like they still bring the heat!!!

One of my favorite shows. Amazing experience. Old barely running cars pulling up to the venue with greasers and greasettes hopping out. People twice may age in the audience rocking out, mosh pit, swing dancing and bobby socks. Must see.again.
@craigcampbell18433 жыл бұрын
They may not have nice looking paint jobs or interiors but I bet you all those cars were probably running like tops. We help each other find parts and work on our cars. They all run pretty well most of the time. My old F-100 starts up every time first try. Glad you had a good time. Hard not to at a Reverend show.

Still love these guys to this day. Prob brought here by the algorithm bc a Surf Rock search took me to Link Wray, then Brian Setzer, now the Rev. I've had the unbridled joy of seeing Rev & Setzer live. All great music. And Lemmy's 100% correct. He will kill you. Even after his own death, if you don't go get yourself some HEAT

Jimbo is very generous to his fans, I caught him going in a backstage door and didnt have tics to a soldout show, he walked me over to the tour bus took down my name for the guest list. I told my buddy he thought I was full of shit,drank a few beers and went to the front of the line. The doorman said right this way Mr.Ross party of two we still laugh about it now. Thanks again Jimbo and Rev for givin killer show as always and for a great tale to tell.
@xalvarez68982 жыл бұрын
Hey bro I got one just like your story that happened to my friend and myself out at a show in Hollywood. We went up to the bar ordered a couple of rounds, and looked to our left and Jimbo was trying to get the bartender's attention. While he was waiting for the bartender's attention, we told the one attending us told him to give him what he wanted. Next thing we know we were chilling out with him, and him and the Rev. while we sent a martini and a shot and beer during the set gave us thanks.
@woodfamily52299 жыл бұрын
Jimbo used to let my buddy and I into the shows in Santa Cruz for free through the back because we were underage. Way cool dude. Never really talked to the rest of the band much. That was back in the 90's and I haven't seen em in concert since.

Ran into Jimbo a few times. One time was before a show at The Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He could NOT have been nicer. Just gave him a quick bro-hug and said have a good show. He said, "Thanks guys.", to me and my girl and the other couple we were with. Just a totally chill and cool guy. Even though to a FEW of us, he's a ROCKFUCKINGSTAR !!!! Saw him a few months later at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit and he was just as cool. Greeting fans in the lobby before the show. Super down to earth.

Jim Heath and Jimbo Wallace are the Reverend Horton Heath. They have had the pleasure of featuring different drummers throughout their illustrious careers but what never changes is the collaboration between Jim and Wallace and the amazing sound that is The Reverend Horton Heat, Replete with Hank Williams country suits and the rolled up sleeves of a madman on bass. Namaste

Tyner72 the song at 15:57 is called Loaded Gun. You can find it on the album The Full Custom Gospel Sound of the Reverend Horton Heat. The lyrics in this version are a little different than on the album. One of my all time favorite bands. Jim Heath is the reason I have a Gretsch guitar.

this is so awesome!! i started out being turned onto RHH back in about oh, let's say, '89 or so. the Rev was wearing torn jeans and t-shirts and the fishing cap (which i cannot find to buy anywhere!), playing to small audiences at The Vatican/The Abyss in Houston. i've followed them since, and finally got to meet him via a backstage pass given to me by a former D.J who just happened to have known the band since the early 80s. meeting Crowded House the year before, it was a memorable year!

I was lucky enough to see about 6 shows the Rev played at the Hole in The Wall in Austin TX in 89-91 and I've been following him ever since. Even back in 89 you knew he was special, you knew he was in it for the long haul you could sense he took his craft seriously. He reminds you why you love live music. His shows are what all musicians could learn from. This video is a great example of his craftsmanship but seeing him live over the years has made me a fan for life.
