Absolutely an awesome looking transmitter. I really miss my Heathkit Apache, modified by non other than W0VMC. Great video!

What is the carrier power with 100% modulation?

Measured 105 watts output with carrier and 375 watts Peak with full modulation measured.

Very nice. I had the DX-100 back in 1971 when I first got my ticket. It was super to see the old friend again. It had a sweet CW tone (most Heathkits did) and I had a lot of fun with it. As a novice, I had to tune it to 75W but you know how to do that. I had the DX-60B and HG-10 VFO combo as well. The DX-60 truly had a SWEET CW tone. The receiver I used for both units was the Hammerlund HQ-129X (I think I saw something similar on your bench). Thanks for the blast from the past!

Great old rig. It was one of the first transmitters I used after picking up my ticket. I also had the DX-60B with matching HG-10B VFO. Both great transmitters but the DX-60B had the sweeter CW tone.

When I started in amateur radio there were a few solid-state units out there, but they were oddities and not trusted by the community. The solid-state finals were very suspect ---- only 50% efficiency, and the slightest abuse meant an expensive repair. The old tube transmitters could run until the plates were red and still be kickin' :) My first transmitter was not the DX-100, but the DX-60; crystal controlled too, with a light bulb for a dummy load (try that solid state PA's!!). The receiver by the way was an old SX-28 Skyrider. Had a lot of CW fun in those days. :)

Hey Pete , where can I buy a complete set of knobs those you have look new.. I have both the dx 100 and dx 100b.

I've always hated the Heathkit knobs and then I came across a sale on Ebay for 250 used vintage knobs and I snapped it up. I picked out some knobs that looked like they would look good on the DX100 and that's what you're seeing.

I have same one. face plate no so nice. 11 meter am works. only have put into dummy load. I am using GE 6146W from RF parts. get 120Watt am and about 110 on 10 meter. that's with MFJ 1.8 to 60 Mhz cross needle and 300 watt dry dummy load. have the DX 40 and DX 60 as well. have not put any on the air yet. still fixing/restoring mostly need caps. I have all new tubes on hand.

Nice seeing old gear. Tubes I understand, solid state, not so much.
