In this video I purchase and Adventure Kings 270 degree awning for $649. I install it on my ute and then give you my initial thoughts on the awning. Being the cheapest freestanding awning on the market I was surprised to see the great quality and design.

Only two, but you can run a total of four

Good review mate! I purchased one and have had only 2 issues so far, the bag seems to let water in and presumed was coming from the holes created but I siliconed these up. Also the back flap piece covering the gap has unstitched somehow. Still can't fault it and happy with it overall

I e just installed one on my bus. The awning itself not bad but the cover bag leaks. Only had it on for a week and the stitching on the bay coming undone

No issues with mine so far, also on a 1200 canopy which is against the supplied instructions as not enough support at the front and too much over hang, but I did get the two brackets at the rear of the awning as per recommendations.

Awning is great! Only thing I can fault is all my straps to secure the awning were threading the wrong way and sewed up. I have no way of reversing it now - so during heavy winds the rope puts stress on the actual trigger to make adjustments which could loosen the rope.

Time to add poles and walls. Like you said, not the largest sheltered area. If your sleeping under it, theres not much room. Perhaps put the old awning on the other side, and add the awning-tent. We use an OCAM 3m Awning+Tent, love it. We also tack on a OzTent RV3 or just a 3m tarp.

I was not going to get one as I have similar roof racks to your self. I can fit 4 brackets but not spaced as per their installation video. If 2 is enough you think then maybe I'll get one after all. Hope it's holding up

i just bought one myself for $500! down from 800 i think and i love it! only problem now is i was looking into getting the walls and their $150 each and $180 for the door/wall so that's $620 for a full set, which i personally think is nuts since i only paid $500 for the awing itself

Nice one mate. 👍 Proof that not all Kings products are low quality. It's just unfortunate that one of their more problematic products, also happens to be one of their more expensive offerings, and that's their hard shell RTTs. I would also avoid their steel platform roof racks. The powder coating is not good, thus the rack starts to rust & leave rust stains on your 4WD roof. So far, it's the only Kings product I've replaced with a different brand. But IMO, many of their other products are on par quality wise, with more expensive similar offerings by other brands, thus offer excellent value for money. I currently use their fixed solar panel, solar blanket, rear drawers, AGM battery, & LED driving lights. Plus bits and pieces of their canvas bags. I've had most of these now for around 4 years, and so far so good (touch wood). 🤞👌

Ocam have pretty much the exact same awning with poles except it doesn't have zippers up around the edge and instead has velcro

Common problem is stitching coming undone where the folding bracket is. And the factory stitching in the waterproof bag let's water get in, and it can't get out untill opened.

I've seen the awning in-store you could possibly drill some small holes in the ends for some poles from bcf or anaconda. It is really sturdy tho I hung of it being 85kg. Will be getting one when I get new car 🤙

After reading this comment i went and opened it up after some very heavy rain here in Brisbane. There was a little bit of water in the bag. Had a closer look at the stitches and can see a few holes. Will try sealing up

Have had 1 since they came out, also got the walls to go with it. Used half a dozen times so far no problems. As mentioned quick and easy to setup but we found for us we definitely needed 2 people to install.
