Kaak Bou Assaf is the breakfast that has accompanied the journeys of nearly every resident of Jbeil-myself included. The elders of Byblos still remember Boutros as a young boy, helping his grandfather bake kaak over a wood fire with the assistance of the women in Ramel Street. Boutros would carefully place the loaded trolley on his head and walk towards St. John Church, where locals eagerly awaited what they considered the best breakfast ever.
For over 60 years, the Nohra family has preserved the art of making Jbeil’s round kaak. From a humble traditional stove in Ramel Street to a bustling bakery in the heart of Byblos Souks, Bou Assaf remains a landmark of tradition and taste. Every morning, Boutros is still there-faithfully kneading the dough and baking the kaak that carries the flavors of our childhood. It's a taste and aroma that lingers in our memories, no matter how many years pass.
