After 15 yrs she’ll be eligible for parole, which may fail, so … I don’t understand why concurrent sentences are used - it minimizes the second victim, to my mind. Consecutively would’ve given her 30-life, which seems more of a deterrent.

I agree. Concurrent sentences are pretty much bullshit. You're essentially double-sending them to prison for the same sentence. Might as well just sentence them once and shake your finger at them and say, "I mean it."

Well said. Totally agree. Concurrent sentences for these types of heinous crimes are a cruel joke.

As for the Shirilla case, I lived in Cleveland at the time this happened and the trial took place, what she did was HORRENDOUS and not just the murder and attempted suicide. In the interim that she was waiting for the trial to start she went to a music festival downtown and her parents took her to Ohio University to party for Halloween. Her mother was even attempting to get her a modeling agent cause in their mind she wasn’t going to prison and she needed to focus on HER future, not the ones she ended. Her parents raised an entitled monster! And the kid that was collateral damage was adopted out of foster care with his 2 sisters. She had no real understanding of what she did , therefore no real remorse

@@ReAllyT1978 You would think, right. But, they kept screaming they knew she was innocent as they took her away in court. And the victims families were in the courtroom, smh. When all of this came out in court it just made me cry. Those poor boys died before their lives even started

The last one Skylar asked why? And begged them to stop while they stabbed her. Just because they no longer wanted to be friends. How could they do that!? None of these kids can apologize for their cruel acts. How can they.

the Skylar Neese case is heartbreaking, that poor girl thought she was sneaking out to hang out with her two best friends, but instead they stab her death and hide her body in the woods 😕

LWOP (life without the possibility of parole) is extremely rare for crimes committed before you turn 18. It was completely banned a few years ago, but the Supreme Court reversed that decision allowing it in certain circumstances. The death penalty is completely off the table for under 18s. Remember, just because someone is eligible for parole, doesn’t mean it will be granted. Charles Manson was eligible for parole, and was denied, eleven times.

The other option for sentencing is "Consecutive". i.e. the convicted person must serve the full term of the first sentence before beginning to serve the second sentence. In many states, that is the ONLY way to guarantee that a really vicious criminal will NEVER get out.

9:05 Mr Ballen covered this story, "These teens have a terrifying secret(mature audiences only)" is the title. it was absolutely brutal. they were all good friends and then they just got tired of their friend and just decided they would kill her. then they pulled off the murder, hid the body and went about their normal lives. once the parents reported her missing, they pretended to help find their friend, even went to her house and spent time comforting and seeking comfort for the girls parents. and there were even more details that just made the whole thing even worse. they are monsters. they even had the thing planned out to "go on 3" and start stabbing when their friend was distracted. one of them posted on social media after the murder "we really did go on 3."

Believe it or not, in some states, a person under age of 16, even convicted of murder, can be released at age 21 AND have their record expunged.

I got bad grades in school and the only thing I felt was ashamed that I didn't perform as well as I should have. Kill my teacher over a bad grade?!? WTF!!! Those two are morally bankrupt and need to stay behind bars and avoid dropping the soap for the rest of their lives. That young and good-looking? They are gonna have some problems.

The US supreme court has ruled that criminals who have committed their crimes before the age of 18 cannot automatically get a life sentence. Thus, they get a sentence like 15 to life. At 15 years in prison, the court will review the sentence and either resentence them to life or to 34 more years or release them. I doubt anyone is ever getting out in the video.

A guy who I had knew in High School transferred to a different High school and a few months later, he and his GF killed a Japanese exchange student because she had been flashing money around their high school she got from her father to repair her car. A few years ago he was released. He is now happily married, and works to help people cope with drug and alcohol addiction. These crimes are unimaginable, mercy should not be. As a matter of fact, I learned about the second chapter in this man's life through a news report and they have said that in the past few decades there is a great deal of evidence that people that commit violent crimes and go to jail for a long time have one of the lowest chances of recidivism. They outgrow the violence.

I make no excuses for these kids they deserve life in prison. I wouldn't take the kid's grin you referred to so seriously, it could be a nervous reaction that can't be helped. He could've been smirking it off I don't know, but I know people have involuntary reactions under stress.

I think some of it is a sense of self entitlement. They felt they were entitled to get a good grade, regardless of their efforts of deserving it. Easy solution and selfish, they took a woman's life while destroying three families.

15 to life means the state's amout of prison time for life, plus an additional 15 years. So if a state's life sentence is 90 years, and you get 15 years to life, your sentence would be 105 years.

For the last case, the actual motive for the murder was that Shelia and Rachel were in a gay/lesbian relationship and they were both afraid that Skylar was going to tell people.

She may be young and immature, but surely knows the difference between right and wrong. Concurrent means run together. Shes crying for herself , not for what shes done. The boys who killed their teacher most likely be tried as adults.

In my opinion it’s the internet babysitter, parents use to condition them to be seen and not heard . Kids live in false worlds and bring that world into their daily lives . Some insecurity in teens becomes a psychological disorder and crime becomes an answer !

It is very disturbing how more often than not people cannot handle… failure or rejection. You get a bad grade? Do better! You don’t like someone? Go on about your business. To go to such extremes is beyond concerning. Smh. I may be in the minority here but I don’t know who is to blame. Maybe we go back to keeping score at children’s sports games. Stop giving them certificates for everything! You win some… you lose some and it’s OK!

Recently, the parents of a teen murderer were, or are about to, be on trial for manslaughter. The mother was found guilty of manslaughter. At this time, the father is yet to be in court (I think). First time a parent has been found guilty in relation to a child's actions. Not sure if I agree with it or not, but that's the current situation.

In the Skyler Neese case, I remember reading somewhere that the two girls didn't want to be friends with Skyler anymore but were afraid that she would tell their parents that they were lovers, and that was the reason why they killed her. To hide their secret.

Rachel made that claim during her parole hearing in an attempt to garner sympathy from the panel. She’s highly manipulative and lacks empathy. Thank goodness the panel saw through her games and rejected her parole. She planned the murder just because she wanted to kill.
