"In Tennessee, the sun's goin' down But in Beijing, they're heading out to work" Forced appeal to Chinese consumers is forced. 1) These lyrics make no sense in the context of the song. 2) Zero Chinese consumers will buy this song because this line in the song mentions Beijing. Stop. Please stop. You are just vandalizing quality art with these transparent marketing gimmicks.

@@hungdora9870 It may mean that she refers/sees herself as an “old soul”. She’s still quite young but already has amassed some knowledge so she can get by on her own in life. However she also accepts the fact that she still has a lot of challenges and opportunities ahead of her so she is willing to learm more. That’s why she’s just waiting on the right time for her to do her “thing”. * Whew. I tried. It’s my interpretation. Others may have their own. I hope it helps.

actually the pattern is usually A, e (ie. minor), G, D in the intro and when she’s singing the lyrics she does the Cadd9 substitution, ie. A, Cadd9, G, D mostly in-between the lyrics, ie. when it’s just instrumental. IMHO it’s one of the things about the songs that makes it so compelling. it sounds like a pretty straightforward country/pop song chord structure when it starts and through the verses and choruses - A/e/G/D. but then that slight change during the instrumental parts to the jazzy C9 chord is just unexpected and mysterious enough that it’s, well - no longer your basic country/pop song.

Just 'discovered' Kacey by hearing this song play at a local coffeeshop. Immediately Shazamed the song, which then brought me here to listen again to this, and other of her music. The lyrics, the instruments, the subtle twangs of banjo, the background electronica/new agey sounds that are incorporated here and there....some may call this 'country' (which I'm not a general fan of...) but to me this is more a hybrid type music... Her voice is so pure (and yes, I too love Alison Kraus...) ...the lyrics are great... and I love the simplicity of the beautiful video image that accompanies this song.

I just can’t get enough of this song 🎶. I drive an eighteen wheeler and I probably listen to it fifty times a day. ❤️

Its like how Beck mixes elements of country into his modern music, yet stays true to his sound. Such a beautiful song!
