How I gave this DRESSER a NEW LIFE ~ Furniture Makeover

This week we take this old dresser about to be trashed and give it a new life. This dresser makeover was pretty tough on me as I questioned myself every step of the way. The end results were just fabulous and I love it now and I think someone would love this furniture in their home! I hope you guys enjoy the video!

Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included kzbin.infoUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

I know that the "old finish" was in rough shape, but I really liked the dark red with the gold line/flower pattern, it was very "old world"....all things a side....you really did breathe new life into an old piece....it came out beautifully!!!...truly one of a kind work of art!!!...

Part of creation is the pause between parts or steps. At least,when I did houses it was a use for me to live with a decision and move on. Be having a restful vacation. Rub a bar of soap along the inside of the door tracks so the drawers open and close smoothly. Beautiful transformation!

E H: Or even rub real wax along the inside tracks of the drawer sliders - or the wax of a candle works too. It helps a zipper slide more easily.

You transformed that poor little orphan into a glamorous little beauty! Your artistic painting talent is obvious, but to me, the most mysterious and amazing aspect of your talent is your gift of being able to visualise what a piece can become. I can paint, but I lack your ability to see what the piece wants. I know you said you felt as if you couldn't decide about this one, but you'd already decided it wanted decoupage; you'd chosen the decoupage, and you'd chosen the colour. So maybe you weren't as doubtful as you imagined. As always, you succeeded. Brava! .

WOW!!!! That transformation is gorgeous! I wish I could find a piece with those gorgeous Knapp joints in the drawers. That piece dates from 1870 to 1900. Very nice find and even nicer makeover! Well done, Kacha!

You have all your materials ready not searching around while filming, you don't talk with anyone in the background including the live comments, which is distracting and you don't dwell on speaking about your personal life. Most of us are watching to improve our skills and get ideas on products and finishes for our businesses. Great job KACHA, it’s amazing what a good deep sanding will do to get rid of the worst of the worst, and we know we will have a smooth surface starting out. We love our BONDO, don’t we! It’s our magic wand, for all things impossible! Bravo, on this rescue!

This is a very old piece! What makes the Knapp joint so special is that it was only used for about 30 years, from 1870 until 1900. This joint is the first known mechanization for making drawers in the industrial revolution age until eventually being replaced by a machine that cuts dovetails.

This piece turned out beautifully. It is so feminine in it's appearance and the feel it gives off to the observer. I am glad that you chose to do the pink sparkle at the end instead of the gold. I don't think the gold would have given any benefit to it and maybe detracted from the delicateness of the painting and picture. You are so talented and can completely understand why you would work on a piece at night when the idea came to mind. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Seriously not just a “save” (which is awesome) but you have a great designers artistic eye and to think back to this dressers beginning....Andy our could see such a completely different life for that poor dresser.... with such a feminine color and beautiful decoupage....you def have a a wonderful gift for envisioning a such a great fit for this sad sad wreck of a dresser!!
