I bought a Roland Taiko-1 because I didn't want to bother with tying the ropes of a traditional Katsugi Okedo. I didn't know the shoulder strap wasn't included, so I bought a commercially available adjustable strap with carabiner ends, and hooked them to the 4 cable ties on the front and back sides (2 cable ties on each side) of the Taiko-1. I also bought 2 heavily-padded shoulder pads for the shoulder strap. (I might as well use modern technology all the way.) When I went to buy an amplifier for my Taiko-1, I noticed that Guitar Straps sold at a music shop can also be used with shoelaces for Katsugi, and some of the Guitar Straps already have padding on them.

I bought Magnolia bachi with rounded ends (ordered from Japan) for my Roland Taiko-1, because I didn't want the perpendicular edge of regular bachi to dig into the electronic drum skin for the sake of longevity before having to replace the mesh head.
