I love that you’re so accepting of what other ferret owners feed and believe. It makes me feel a lot more at ease with my methods of feeding xx

I'm the same way! I really want ferrets and have for years but my mom said absolutely not! It made me really really upset. Ferrets are my dream exotic pet! I watch your videos so that I can feel like I have ferrets because you interact with them and feature them on the show so much I love it!

Great video, Kenya! My ferrets are also on raw grinds diet (but I do mix different types of 80-10-10 grinds-poultry, red meat, game, fish, together then portion them, vacuum pack and freeze) together with some whole prey and eggs. My ferrets are not very fond of green tripe but since it's mixed with other grinds they will eat it anyway. I guess I will have to improve my recipe and reduce the amount of green tripe to get a more palatable flavour (and more pleasant smell!!!). I do add to my grinds an extra bone meal (food grade!) to increase calcium content and a dash of pumpkin oil, a little bit of powdered kelp and a pinch of active charcoal.

I feel like I need to comment on my previous post since I was so enthusiastic about 80-10-10 grinds. I was feeding my ferrets raw grinds 80-10-10 for almost 5 months and I thought it was a perfect diet for them. However, minced bones can be sometimes very sharp and dangerous. You may hear arguments that small bones will eventually dissolve in a stomach acid so they are safe. But what if they don't or if they cause laceration before they are dissolved? That's how I've lost my boy. If I have known I would never feed them grinds with bones :(

I just found a ferret yesterday outside my house! 😱 and I acutually posted a video about him on my YT😉 I posted him on YT, Facebook groups, and took him to the vet and he isnt micro chipped, im holding him until his owner is found ☺ He has been drinking tons of water since he was very dehydrated, but he hasnt been wanting to eat 😳 idk what he likes...
@energydrink87093 жыл бұрын
if you havent tryed yet, try feeding him the Marshall ferret food, most people feed that food, and even if he doesnt eat it currently, he most likely ate it as a baby. good luck getting him to eat and finding his owner!

Awesome Ill try that then thank you 🙏

Loved the video :) would you consider making content on keeping energetic kits entertained, as well as suggestions for limiting stashing their raw food in gross places? I’m thinking I’ll try out grinds instead of whole meal as my girls think the chunks belong in my couch and not in their tummies
@FriendlyNeighborhoodFerrets3 жыл бұрын
grinds will DEFINITELY help with stashing, especially if you water them down like I do.

I'm still TRYING to get my 5 Lil brats to switch ! So far I can do soupie grinds they love that with your homemade bone broth recipe. But kibble is still ALWAYS left down . But I use best kibble they will eat . Dr elsey and instinct raw chicken kibble and Acana. I mix 3 cuz my hedgehogs and sugar gliders eat that too so score for ME . Lol but again I wanna go raw

My ferret is so picky! I’ve tried giving him raw to see if I could switch him over, but he always just turns his nose at it..:(

have you used the method on the holistic ferret forum (the link is in the description). 99% of ferrets will turn their noses up at it at first.

This may be dumb if me to ask but I’d like to know. What exactly are grinds? Cos they sound the easiest to do and feed but I’m not actually sure what part they are?
@echoless34742 жыл бұрын
@@backisayback5147 grinds are meat, bone and organ that has already been portioned to follow the 80/10/10 ratio and is then ground up into a paste consistency.

Can I feed my ferrets half kibble half raw?
@uselessusagi3 жыл бұрын
how long do grinds last in the freezer is it still only three days?
@FriendlyNeighborhoodFerrets3 жыл бұрын
In the fridge they're good for 3 days. In the freezer I imagine they'd be good for quite some time (at least 6 or so months). If you're buying commercial grinds then they should have an expiry date on them that will let you know.
@meshabrown6483 жыл бұрын
Can they be fed both kibble and raw?
@FriendlyNeighborhoodFerrets3 жыл бұрын
Honestly there's a lot of debate about that and I don't have a solid opinion on it yet. In Europe, it's extremely common to feed ferrets a mix of the two, but here in North America (where I live) people express concerns about the different bacteria in the two types of food causing Leaky Gut. Most people seem to agree that the safest way to feed the two of them is by feeding them at separate times so that the two don't mix in the stomach, but we still lack proper scientific evidence to back either side. I wish I had a better answer for you but I just don't know :(
