the most understated thing about armor is the fact that, when moving, it sounds like box of coins in a hurricane

I wonder how noisy hundreds of guys fighting in armour would be. In movies and TV we always hear clashing weapons and shouting, but never the sounds of clanky suits.

Like Kael says at 11:20, channels like yours make me want to put together my own kit eventually. Although it'll likely be a far more "common soldier" kit, due to a combination of cost restrictions and interest in lower status soldiers and citizenry of the time. Mostly soft kit, with a sallet/kettle hat on the head, and a habergeon and/or breastplate on the torso.

Beautiful harness! Although a little puzzling some of the things the owner says - not being able to lift his arms past his shoulders seems extremely counterintuitive for a foot combat harness - especially given how much capwell is his book and in the videos on the effigy he harps on about how important shoulder mobility is for this style. Wasson is also obviously an amazing armourer, so maybe there is some kind of configuration issue?
@MisdirectedSasha

Not any real mention about the besegews in this video. I noticed in the videos previously of this man fighting he went without either the besegews tassets or both. Why was that? Doesn't really make sense to me, but what do I know!?!

Awesome harness. But the spaulders/pauldrons seem a bit oversized for English style. Our armours tend to be quite small in the shoulders and terminate much higher.
@pursuingtheknightlyarts6841

This one is based off a specific effigy. By 1450 onwards you do see them get larger. -Reece
@RainMakeR_Workshop
@RainMakeR_Workshop 4 жыл бұрын
@PursuingThe KnightlyArts From what I saw of the effigy in Matt Easton's vid, they're still a fair bit smaller than this. I'd say on the effigy that they terminate about where the deltoid muscles stop and seem much more closely fitted. The effigy visually has more Rerebrace than Spaulder, where as this armour is more Spaulder than Rerebrace. The Effigy also looks to have Rerebeace on top of the Spaulders rather than the other way around. Dr Capwell does stress how the English refused to sacrifice mobility for protection or protection for mobility. We had a fairly unique obsession with getting the best of both. The way this armour is done could be part of why he cant raise his arms. Still bloody cool armour though. I would love to get into harness sparring. But I'm still relatively new to HEMA and can barely afford the gear for that lol.
