I love this! I’ve been following for a while and am the person paralyzed by fear, but I love to write. I’m honestly really unprepared for this month, but I’m doing it anyway just to get past that discomfort. It’s about allowing myself to not be perfect. Thanks for all you girls do!

Same! Though I am unprepared and don't want to trigger my anxiety by pressuring me to write one book in one month so I'll use the event as a motivation to create a sustainable daily writing habit. God luck to you! :)

Same!! I haven’t written in years and find it so hard to plot down anything but whenever I write I just find twists and turns that we can go with.

Embrace the weird. I took part in nanowrimo without preparation. I wrote 38000 words that month for the first time and after that I started a writing habit. Now I finished my first draft and work on my revision🤓.

Hey Kate! I just started my book and I love all my characters and how they are together and I fell in love with them like you said in one of your podcast! Thank you! Also can't wait for Abbie's new book! Hopefully I get the sign one

That’s how writing came into my life. As a nourishing outlet for my madness. It matters to me because everything I create does feed my soul in the most positive ways. I used to struggle with worthiness issues and doubt whether I even have any talents. But I’m always keeping myself busy and striving to be the greatest Artist I know I can be. And because I never gave up and never will, I can actually say I earned the skills I worked so hard to nurture in myself. I’m actually drawing, singing, and writing things that are really awesome quality. I know in my heart and in the magic of my soul that what I have to give is truly needed and my fans are out there.

WOW! I have no idea if you saw my comment on one of your videos last week but I told you there that I wanted to use NaNo to create a daily writing habit. One that I would keep doing, a habit or system like you say in the video. SO THANK YOU THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED! :) I've wanted to read since forever but between being paralyzed by fear, a not very supportive environment (and so many lies to unlearn), real-life and mental illness... It's hard to find the time and energy to do it. Lately, I've been working on making a new system for managing my time and energy better so I can better enjoy my free time and practice my hobbies (mostly creative habits).

one line that I am taking out of this and will probably use in my own novel would be "it's just a day!" Thank you and bless you both for the awesome work you are doing. More power to you all!!

The one good sentence. Indeed. I have a notebook of "notes and quotes" gleaned from previous drafts that I really want to include: 'they're sooo good!"

I seriously thought about doing nanowrimo this year but that's when suddenly my exams came in. So, I am doing a writing retreat in december which is going to be great

I'm actually doing nanowrimo this year and taking a break because I'm almost done with my manuscript (I started with a book I've been working on for years) and animal crossing update dropped... But I really need to develop a writing ritual so that I can continue to finish stories after this. Thank you!!

Question: how do you find time for writing when you have a full-time job with no set shift pattern?
@taylorduarte67253 жыл бұрын
I use Google calendar with 30 minute prior reminders. My schedule is set. But if yours changes I recommend once you know your schedule for let's say the week, plan out this weeks writing time, and just flex and flow based on what you work. The 30 min before reminders are a good time frame because it gives you time to wrap up whatever you're doing and get into the writing mindset. Hope this helps! It works for me

I find having realistic word count goals helps when working full time, for me between 300 - 500 words a day makes me feel much more relaxed with my writing and enjoy it more than when I used to try and do at least 1000 a day

I work an average of about 48 hours a week, plus my family and church commitments. So I feel you. Two things I've found that have helped me tremendously are these: 1) realize the power of 5 minutes. If you've got 5 minutes in the morning between breakfast and brushing your teeth, use it to write. After you've achieved a consistent 5 minutes, suddenly 10 minutes become attainable, and then 15, and then 30...etc. 2) Think about your story. Seriously. Use your commute as mental-note taking time. Hype your mind up about your story. Make it as inviting to your brain as winding down with a favorite TV show. Make your characters your imaginary friends that you vent to, lol. Good luck!

IMO writing immediately after you wake up (or just before sleep if you are a night person) is more helpful that way it doesn't matter how your whole day is! i guess. All the best!

Love this podcast! Enjoy the psychology behind becoming successful as the artists and writers we are each meant to be. We must each edit our thought pattern, yes? I think I am. I think I am. I think I am a writer. Therefore I am:)
