+Marco Clarke Problem with running Qbs is that they dont run when they NEED TO DO IT. Russell Wilson already won a superbowl,,,and it was to close to win a second one. I REMEMBER, very clear, when the game was 24-14 against the pats in the 3rd quarter....i saw exactly 2 times where Russel could have run so EASIIILY over the pats defense to get the 1st and 10...but HE DIDNT. he freakin chicken out.What was the god damn point of running for 17 games in the regular season if he couldnt do it in the most important game?? I hope the pats beat the broncos, and Cam humiliate Tom Bray by running 500 yards in the SB.

Most QBs fail. Most QBs are pocket QBs. Some are running QB's. We notice the failure of running QBs because they are not the norm, while ignoring the failure of pocket QBs because it is an everyday event. Running QBs (or QBs who at least have the ability to run) will always have a bigger upside. John Elway, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Montana. All good scramblers. And now with prospects like Mariota, Tyrod, etc. coaches are beginning to see that speed doesn't necessarily come with poor passing numbers or bad decision making. Check yourself, Colin. You're about to watch a lot of running quarterbacks over the next 10 years.

The problem is when running QB's start to have success and get a big contract, then they worry about injuries and STOP RUNNING. Kap now slides and is nervous to run. HIs running skills set up the pass, now he doesn't even run. He gets caught in between and creates sacks. HE"S GOT TO PLAY LIKE HE"S GOT NOTHING LOSE

The problem is not running QB's, the problem is drafting great running QB's then teams try and mold them into Peyton Manning. Let em run, get a couple backup QB's that can run in case of injury. Turn RG3 loose like in college

@Shakester71
@Shakester71 8 жыл бұрын
+Brad Lamb Young and Vick don't belong in the same sentence. There is a difference between a running QB and a QB that can run. A running QB's value is basically his ability to...well... run the ball. A QB that can run is much different. Donovan McNabb, Steve Young, Steve McNair and Aaron Rodgers were/are all QBs that can run. What does that all mean? You don't have to design run plays for those QBs for them to have a positive impact on the game. Kaepernick, RG3, Vick and Tebow are all running QBs. You take away their ability to run, then they're not very good QBs. When Tebow was in NY, all people kept talking about was how little he knew about the game and how he couldn't even grasp an NFL playbook. Kaepernick is the same way, but the 49ers simplified the playbook just for him which made him and the offense extremely predictable.

There is a major difference between a running QB and a QB that can run. Cam Newton has slowly turned himself into a QB that can run. Kaepernick isn't even in the same class as Newton or even Russell Wilson, because their value isn't solely on their legs. You take away Kaepernick's ability to run and you pretty much have nothing. Even in his best season when the 49ers were winning, he threw for 3197 yards. His absolute best best statistical season was when they went 8-8 and he threw for 3369 yards, 19 TDs and 10 INTs. Newton's worst (16 games) season, he threw for 3379, 24 TDs and 13 INTs. Cam Newton, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers are all QBs that can run. RG3 and Kaepernick are running QBs and what are their status now? How is Terrelle Pryor doing? These are guys that got this far because of their athletic abilities and not their quarterbacking skills. When was the last time a running QB won a Super Bowl?
@0-Elias-0
@0-Elias-0 8 жыл бұрын
To answer your question: The last time a "running QB" won a Super Bowl was in 2014 (Russell Wilson). A healthy portion of the Seahawks' offense is designed run plays for the quarterback. The same can be said about Carolina (who almost won in 2016). Athletic quarterbacks are an asset to NFL offenses. As the negative stigma slowly erodes you will find running QBs winning Super Bowls repeatedly.

im a cowboys fan so i wouldn't normally defends a 49er, but the thing inn the nfl is they don't have a gameplan for running qbs... honestly Russell Wilson is not a good qb and the nfl didn't necessarily need you to be a good qb every hall of famer qb could move the pocket... just name them all and they moved it... don't get me wrong being mobile and moving the pocket are two completely different things... the best qbs were poor to slight mobility but moved the pocket tho if we look at the numbers... Steve young, Marino, elway, Montana, Hollywood Joe, Brady, even slow as Peyton... tho Peyton isn't mobile and makes throws from the pocket when the game needs it he steps up into or rolls out of the pocket... that's how most big plays are created... the hawks have been successful with a weak recurring cite because Russell moves the pocket and his mobility extends the play... if you are a pocket passer alone you can't be super successful in the nfl... kap has lost the best coach the team has had in years and they are messing up his career by saying hey throw from the picket when he was never that qb... he had a great arm but look art the dbs he's been facing... i can clearly see play calling isn't this teams strong suit... i can't tell you the lady time I've seen a recievers open but hens in the same mold as Cam... you love Cam and claim he stays in the pocket more but he's been the leading rusher how many games??? keeps the game alive how many games... Brady is one of the best conversion qbs on third and fourth down... that doesn't speak to his mobility but he keeps drives alive by doing what??? running... the biggest play of Elways career was what??? a running play where he dives and gets flipped... pete Carroll brought college style to the nfl not just the weak ass spread option which was incorporated before he got in... result back to back support bowl appearances and a successful team... they always say oh the running qb won't work the guys are bigger faster stronger... they just don't want it to work or don't plan for it so it won't work... Colin is off base but i like his orange analogy only inn the sense that if you want the Orange or running qb to work make it easy don't keep doing the same "peeling" plays then give up find a way to juice it before you use it...

This dude probably never watched any of the games he's talking about, especially the most recent one. The O-line collapsed immediately, which led to Kap running for his life every play. Then there were no one open for him to throw because the Seahawks covered them all. Not to mention Kap had 0 support from the running game. When you just jump on the bandwagon without actually knowing what happened, you lose credibility. I wish he actually knows what he's talking about.

Juan Manuel Marrero Torruellas I would say so. They couldn't make the playoffs before him. They made the playoffs every year with him but his last with two great teams in his division. And now they can't make the playoffs again. And this isn't the first time this has happened. Michigan was unranked before him, and now they're one of the best in the country. The year before he went to Stanford, they were 1-11. In four years he made them 12-1. And now that he's gone they've been on steady decline.

Mike Vick is where I disagree. u see just like Europeans in nba when then typical case is the same yes and ur lotto pick is a 6foot 3 point white unathletic shooter but kristaps dirk and Mario hezonja are different Mario and kristaps are freaks than are more athletic than ur typical player along with dirk just having a lot of touch for 7 feet also with kristaps too. Mike Vick is not Colin keapernick Colin has a very strong arm along with Vick but their is a huge difference Colin has a stronger one and cannot control it more importantly has one speed with his arm hard fast line drive that is bad. Mike Vick not the case as he shown in Philly he has a very accurate arm and can he can be a pocket QB too if he is shown he can no longer run without getting hit and realizes he can take over passing too because ultimately he knew how to read defenses from the start but he still chose to run and coaches never told him he could not kap all he knows how to do is run.

Read my whole last comment. Mike Vick to me is the lost QB he is the most talented QB of all time not only did he have a stronger arm than anyone of all time or at least up there he still had touch and could control his arm kap is an example of the opposite he has maybe a slightly more stronger arm with no control all he has is a line drive zip pass. Vick not only had one of the best arm talents of all time he also somewhat knew how to read defenses and showed in philly if he is taught can learn a lot. Plus along with that he is the fastest QB of all time maybe might be the fastest player of all time. Mike Vick to me could of been the MJ of football he had the best talent of all time but he was never coached right. All he needed was his Phil Jackson like how he fixed MJ. If wut happened to Mike earlierlearned how to be a pocket passer and ran when he was told like on read options sweeps and learned how to slide he would of been a running Joe Montana instead he was told run all u want

+grinningchicken Not many QBs that are drafted are successful. Thats just how it is and a lot of that has to do with what they're doing at the college level. Those guys are system QBs which means they only fit a certain system whether its a spread offense or read/option. Unfortunately, thats what 80% of the college teams are running nowadays. Then you have schools like Stanford, Florida State and Louisville who are running pro-style offenses. Rodgers, while at Cal, was in a pro-style offense. Brady at Michigan was in a pro-style offense. Jameis Winston came from a pro-style offense and you saw what he did in his rookie year. Colleges are getting the best athlete that can somewhat throw a ball and making them NCAA QBs because they can run.

He adores Wilson and blasphemes and delusionally states cam us better then Rodgers!! Yes annoyingly full of it. And for record kap talent didn't decline, he's been pissed since niners (yorke and balke) let one of best coaches in history (harbaugh) walk and doomed niners back to mediocrity, and kap has been devastated and pissed since and justly so. If kap went to team he liked and coach he believed in again he'd be better then ever, but I don't blame kap for defining "disgruntled" the harbqugh travesty is unrivalled as worst atrocity EVER committed by owner and gm in nfl history.but kap skills didn't decline.
