The way AZKi sings with "less studio precision" live is probably my favorite thing about her. I always come back to the first time she sang "Afterglow" live, it's already such a hard-hitting song with the sad but controlled whispery vocals in the studio version. But the way she sang it live with a more shaky voice and more of that "lump-in-the-throat" sort of low-end in her vocals just gets to me even more. Even on her happier songs too, like "Nonbiri to", she'll add like these inflections that elevate the song's playfulness and such. I just love how much control she has over her singing and how she uses it to emphasize emotion.

you can definitely notice how much KAF has learned by now, nowadays her singing is a lot more precise and flexible while still keeping her characteristic “feeling”. i don’t deny that her old songs have a lot of charm because of her focusing more on feeling but i can’t hear her doing a lot of the stuff she’s doing now if she were to do it like that and that’s what i appreciate about her growth

The emotion does come in from AZKi when she sings Inochi, so she has gotten the "feeling"

Studio recordings usually need to sound ‘good’ above being really emotive, because the song needs to sell first and foremost. Singing live is when you cut loose, improvise and emote.

Hmm... Suisei did agree with AZKi that it is different between singing live and recording but unlike her gave a single number, I wonder if she meant 60-40 between technique-emotion for live singing or doing recordings. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter, Suisei seems somewhat more technical compared to AZKi to me (the way she expresses emotions is actually one of my favourite parts of AZKi's singing, while with Suisei I think the aspect that first comes to my mind is her displays or talent/skill (one might call it flexing)). Her focusing/prioritising lyrics over melody also doesn't surprise me, considering she did write some of her own lyrics even if not majority of her songs.

The way I interpreted that statement was that the ratio is always 60:40 but what it favors differs in LIVE or recording environment. I.E. 60 in favor of technique in a recording environment but 60 in favor of feeling in a LIVE environment.

Great interview. Three different singer types with various levels of experience. It does make me feel that KAF might feel be a bit lonely praised so much. I hope that there is a song collab in the future, or she can get closer with other vtubers.

I feel that both Suisei and AZKi are technique heavy simgers so naturally they would rely on their techniques and as suisei said just ride the emotion on top of it. But emotion heavy singers should sing emotion first because that is their strength and just layer techniques to polish their singing ability. It is not about which is the correct method it is about using your strength as the foundation.

You would be surprised that for Suichan , she's feeling heavy first in ther early stage of her Vtuber. She only obtained technique after she's joined Hololive and able to have singing lesson with the support of the company. At the early day of her, she only have Karaoke booth as her teacher and everything she obtained right before joining Hololive are all self-taught style to boot. That make her more to be on feeling side than technique side. But when she sung "STELLA STELLAR" is when both of her feeling-side and technique-side are combined into a very great songs.

@@LtZetarn Self taught technique are still techniques. When someone is singing precisely that is technique when someone is singing soulfully that is emotion.

The story script is just beautiful. Suisei, an indie got her song featured by Azki on her radio nearly 4 years ago. and now both are hosting radio together on Suisei's program.

wanted to ask you about clipping ぶいあーる i am in the process of clipping the episode with tamaki from enogu and they have Virtual Berserker at the end. I was thinking of letting a small portion of it play to give people a taste of the song. I asked enogu about it but they directed me to ask NHK about making clips of their radio shows. what do you think about doing that for a clip? I can link you the unlisted clip if you want to see how long I plan on having it.

KAF is the biggest VSinger in Japan, like pretty much a mainstream musician. She's affiliated with Kamitsubaki Studio, which is more of an artist label that's laser-focused on making music, which is why she isn't as well known overseas. I really recommend looking into her and Kamitsubaki as a whole, 'cause not only is their music great, but the production value of pretty much everything they do is unmatched.
