Stuff that can help DOT: - someone that can help Blackswan gain all of her arcana.. her arcana is strong, but in normal fights, all we have gotten to is 10-12 stacks.. Only in SU and DU we are able to have higher stacks.. - dot crit enabler, imagine a dot character that can double the existing dot dmg (with a condition of course), preferably a harmony unit.. - a powerful aoe bleed character.. Sure we have Luka, but his dot build is way weaker than his break build, and he is single target.. - dot preservation.. Why preservation? To make more use of that burn dot lc.. And if possible someone that has high taunt value (like fire MC but better) Sure Jiaoqiu can be used for dot (especially after E2), but if only his other buff is more general than just ultimate dmg buff.. - So lastly, an actual dot def shred / vulnerability unit that actuallh focuses on dot..

@@GReyn yah I feel you. If they only made arcana with less stacks but stronger. Feixiao’s ult for example. It used to be a 1860 something dmg multiplier nuke but it was hella inconsistent. Now they divided her ult into 2 and now she can use either more frequency, resulting in more damage over all. They should rework arcana as a whole and have a maximum arcana around 20-25 because I feel that’s more realistic. Also, they should increase the multiplier as eell

DOT is a great composition, it's just that the final missing piece is not available yet. As of now, DOT "premium" lineup is still incomplete. Only DOT that is still missing it's own dedicated Harmony, while the other compositions already completed and "premium". Hoyo needs to release one dedicated and "premium" support for DOT.

DOT should have a premium sustain whether it’s healer w/ DoTs or a preservation that applies when hit. I believe a premium DOT team in the future would be a triple DOT team. Should be More units like JQ e2 where they have DOT but offer so much more for the team.

DoT premium healer is Huo Huo E1S1 btw. HH Ultimate + S1 give DoT the ATK, E1 gives DoT the SPD, and Ultimate also gives Energy so BS can uses her Ult faster to prevent Arcana from reducing. Also E1 HH also makes her more SP positive so you gets more comfortable with SP management. The only thing they need right now is a dedicated DoT Amplifier + more Force trigger so DoT gets to proc more without relying on Kafka and Enermy turn too much

I've always had a fantasy of a fire abundance character that can "seed" the enemies and have these seeds proc like a dot to life-leech the them. In my head, the healing of these seeds would scale based on instances of damage taken by the enemy between the moment they're seeded and the moment the seeds proc (always the last dot to proc). Damage from dots would count as instances of damage. I imagine their whole aesthetic is based around dandelions and dandelion seedheads, but it could be something else so as to avoid it being another fire abundance unit. Or it could be the same, but have it be imaginary abundance or wind abundance, idk. The thing is, a character like this would be very valuable to dot teams (it'd probably be the dot dedicated abundance unit), but would have a lot of value outside this kind of teams, like with fua teams or even with hypercarries that deal a lot of instances of damage, like Feixiao. And that's only one thing its kit would do. Like, aside from life-leeching, the seeds could give the enemies some debuffs. Maybe their ult creates a field of dandelions that increases the allies' EffectHR and has the enemies get seeded with an X probability every time they get attacked. Maybe one of their talents allows for already seeded enemies to count as having been dealt extra instances of damage for every time the seeding probability procs again. Idk, it could be so many things. I just wanted to get it out of my brain. Aside from a dot sustainer, another dot character is due, though, I agree

Problem with DoT is the over-reliance on Kafka. You could even argue that she's the one holding back the team (same with HMC in break teams). If the enemy can move multiple times per cycle, then a DoT re-trigger won't be necessary anymore. People keep saying that CRIT DoT will fix the playstyle, but it won't. You can't even fit CRIT stats in your relics due to EHR requirements (only Kafka can fit them in, while the rest can't). The DU Equation that enables DoT to CRIT doesn't even do anything because of this. If you give it a fixed value instead (similar to Robin), then what's the difference between that & just directly buffing the damage? There are many ways to buff your damage in the damage formula (Vulnerability, RES PEN, DEF Ignore etc.) without having to rely on CRIT RNG. The CRIT brainrot is crazy 💀

I don't think the DU crit dot equation is as useless as you're saying since there are plenty of hunt blessings that give crit, but outside of DU I mostly agree. A crit dot support would def raise the ceiling for dot builds, but then put us all back into the relic mines anyways. Maybe dot needs a new mechanic like contributing to weakness break, or one of the new event dot effects that have been popping up recently

@@mandre2390 Hunt blessing only gives 11% crit rate. If you're referring to Critical Boost, then it doesn't even work since only one character can have the buff at a time, and only your last character will have it. For example: Kafka -> Black Swan -> Ruan Mei -> Huohuo Neither Kafka nor Black Swan will benefit from Critical Boost since it will transfer to Huohuo. So none of your DoT will ever crit. This is why the Equation is terrible. Also all Critical Boost stacks will go away after the enemy attacks, even if you have a shield. You need a specific Equation to negate this. One redeeming quality of DoT is the fact that it can bypass shields (Traffic Light Robot & Argenti Boss), and against some niche enemy mechanics in Penacony (Chef Dino & "Death" boss)

My guess is a crit dot enabler would work like c2 nahida which makes any type of bloom reaction crit ( and defence shred for spread), the character would enable dot to have a fixed crit rate and crit damage like bloom cores maybe. I personally think theres many potential ways they could improve dot besides adding crit value tho

Guess my brain works backwards, because I absolutely LOVE to watch the enemy blow up with the dots when their turn begins. Such a satisfying playstyle. But you are right about the lack of dot characters. Would be nice to see a new dot focused character to be added to go along Kafka and Black Swan. Jiaoqiu is doing alright, I guess, but he's pretty stuck with Acheron.

I truly think that we won’t have a tier 0 dot team until we have a dot character that heals your team of dot dmg. Dot wants to stack as much dot as possible, but needing two slots for a buffer and a sustain is a lot. So having a sustain that applies buffs and dots aswell is a muss. Jiaqiu was a obvious candidate for that, even having his healer story and all. They u-turned him and nerfed his dot dmg to oblivion. We need a jiaqiu with more dot dmg and a healing kit.

The more I think about it the more I realize it will be better in the long run to not have Jiaoqiu be a dedicated DoT support as well as Acheron's best support so that eventually we could run premium DoT as well as an Acheron comp in MoC etc

Personally, I'd like Kafka as the main Dot enabler and have Black Swan/Jiaoqiu E2, Ruan Mei/ new Dot buffer. Huohuo will still be great if a new sustain can be a Dot, then that might be for the better. I'm hoping for a physical healer then.

I agreed we need more DoT characters. I know Acheron, black swan and Kafka combo works but in a way its not even a DoT team and that team consume lots of SP. You want Kafka to Detonate the DoT, Black Swan to stack her Arcana and Acheron to stack her ult which difficult for Acheron if you dont have her Sig LC. So Acheron should be on different team, and her answer is Jiaoqiu. But DoT still has that missing pieces since Jiaoqiu work much better with Acheron.

Played Himeko as my first 5* and Blade since his release. I start DoT with Kafkas next Rerun. Relics prefarmed and half of her materials. 260 Pulls rdy. I do not like any of the current break ppl. And only pull for looks. If i have enough Pulls left i try Swan. If she gets her rerun first 80 for her and see if i get lucky. But some leaks say both will come together. That will break my neck. But i play what i like so no hurry. If a DoT Harmony ever gets released i will be happy. If it is Tingyun that would be awesome.

Hot take : The DoT support people have been asking for in the form of an harmony DoT is already in, just not an harmony character and is called Kafka. She pretty much doubles the DoT dmg of your team and she just so happens to also be the must have in any DoT team. If they ever release a full harmony support for DoT, i can see the character either allowing DoT to do critical hits OR healing the team based on a % of DoT dealt per turn kinda like that one blessing in SU

See, the core problem with DoT is that it already has a ton of comfort. Between Huohuo's ATK boost and energy regen, Kafka's ability to frontload DoT damage, and Black Swan's Arcana stacks being able to do some major work, a dedicated Harmony probably wouldn't be necessary. DoT trades toughness damage for raw HP damage, but it can't hit the ceilings it needs to because it takes too long to get started. What the archetype NEEDS is a way of stacking DoT's/Arcana faster, as that's what the team does best. Heck, let's look at enemies. Kafka trigger's all DoT's, right? Why not a fast-moving 5* Bleed unit that stacks Bleed in the same way enemies do to us? Fast Arcana stacks, Black Swan's Ult counts those Bleed stacks as all DoT varieties, and Kafka can explode those DoT's for massive frontloaded damage.

I just a need dot character that can detonate his/her own dots. And make that dot have extra buffs only when this character detonates it and not others. This keeps it balanced where you can make this dot extremely powerful like luka's dot but also not too op when played with kafka or blackswan

Kafka is good and all but she doesn't buff the team except for her eidolons. Another good concept would be to have a dot character that applies a debuff where all your teammates can detonate the dot through their basic atk like that one buff in divergent universe.

You keep talking about the position she finds herself in and her apparent weakness, but DoT compositions are extremely strong. They don’t do as much front-loaded damage as recent teams, but you trade quicker clears for consistency across all game modes and ease of use. I too want the DoT harmony to arrive, I want a DoT healer too. But you can’t have everything right now and I think the staggered release of DoT characters is to keep the team in check. DoT is good in everything and the devs know that. DoT’s role as the universal jack of all trades niche should not be underestimated. You can absolutely tell the team love Kafka because they gave her a super futureproof kit and made her the star of the show. Let’s see how Acheron and Firefly are doing in the meta after a year and a half.

Well I don’t give any shits to pridewyn tier list and did not pay any mind to it. I am using dot with Archeron very satisfied with the results and can clear all contents. The power creep in star rail feels a lot faster which causes me to start skipping banners. I really like Fei xiao character and design but I don’t have aventurine or robin which might be a first for me to skip. 😢😢

The investment you bring into a DoT team doesnt give you faster clear time than other archetype makes DoT really less attractive to even think about investing in it
