I for sure feel you on the short chapter complaints. This is for sure the SHORTEST chapter that we’ve ever gotten. Which is without a doubt disappointing. But the actual subject matter of Mina and Kafka having a meaningful conversation made this chapter worth it for me. We’ve been waiting so long for some sort of reconciliation between those two. It’s literally been over 3 years that we’ve been waiting for them to make up. So the chapter was satisfying for myself. But trust me I understand being unsatisfied by the length. 16 pages for a biweekly manga is ass dawg.🙄

Wonderful chapter. The dialogue between them was a great pay off. From this point on, their relationship/interactions will be incredibly different 😅 . Also, if the final move to kill No 9 does in fact happen, there will be promotions/new ranks created. It’s the first time in the force they have so many Numbers weapons users. It would make sense to use them as the pillars in the war against the Kaiju that still reside in the fault.

It’ll be really cool after this war is over to see what kind of weaponized suits the defense force can make out of Kaiju #11 - #15 Also I agree man. The payoff felt so dope. Some of the best dialogue that we’ve gotten the whole series in my opinion.

​@@DoffyDaze, I've been wondering about Kaiju № 12 and 13. I'm thinking that № 12 will either be used to reinforce Numbers Weapon 10, or be made into Numbers Weapon 12 for Hoshina's brother, Souichirou. I think Kaiju № 13, with its muscle augmentation, will be made into Numbers Weapon 13 for Kaguragi Aoi. Kaguragi had the best muscularity among the new recruits by far. I have no idea for Kaiju № 11, 14, and 15, though. Mind you, there's still the Numbers Weapons 3, 5, and 7. So, after this battle, there should be way more Weapon users in the force.

Fourth comment The creator of Kaiju 8 took way longer just to get that one part where the main character finally reunites with her childhood and stand by her on that spot. Plus may get the animated treatment either season 2 or 3.

Betty, I feel you so much. I don’t know if there’s been a more relatable chapter for me since chapter 1. I’m sure you can speak from experience too that I had the craziest aspirations that I KNEW I would accomplish growing up. I was going to make it to the NFL, and be a doctor right after. Safe to say that’s not what was in store for me😂 but without a doubt proud of choices I’ve made and who I am now. I found myself wondering if the chapter was also partly short because maybe it was even emotional for Matsumoto. I know he’s always said that he sees himself in Kafka. I can’t help but think maybe he was talking to himself or someone he’s thinking of.

Hey doffy I think I realized something when watching the 11th episode of the Kaiju no 8 that I missed in the manga. The Kaiju that Kafka ate didn’t take over because it was in danger. The Kaiju took charge because as far as it was concerned Isao was another Kaiju it needed to kill and Kafka was refusing to attack him.

I never liked mina to be honest, she thought of Kafka as a liar for not keeping his promise despite the qualification for joining being how well you are compatible with a suit which is something she should be aware of and he didn’t pass the first time but he still kept trying to get in everytime. She feels like he wasn’t there for her when she needed him but she was never there for him when he needed her either making their relationship seem one sided, she didn’t try to reach out to him, call him or visit his home and talk to him. She only acknowledges him now because he finally fulfilled his promise but if he didn’t get in would she ever acknowledge him, it seems like she only values people that are useful to her. That’s my thoughts about her character.

Fair opinion! I will say this much, I think Mina held up her end of the deal. Their promise was to fight Kaiju together side by side. Mina has always been there waiting for Kafka. Even when Mina first made it in the defense force, Kafka again, told Mina to keep on going because he was going to catch up to her. Ultimately, it was Kafka’s fault that he didnt stick to his word and worst of all, and something you didn’t mention…. He gave up on the promise he made to her. Reno is the sole reason that Kafka gave it another go. When Kafka didn’t join the force, I just think it led to them living in different walks of life. It’s happened to me and some of my friends in real life over the years. We stop talking not because we don’t like each other, or something bad happened. We stop talking because we’re just in different phases/walks of life. So Mina and Kafka not checking in on each other, honestly isn’t out of the ordinary to me. Because it really happens like that as you get older. But I do agree with you on some aspects! It could’ve been affirming for Kafka to at least hear from Mina. Communication is a two way street and they BOTH FAILED MISERABLY😂

Didn’t he gave up because he couldn’t try enlisting anymore because he reached the Max age limit to join the defence force and only tried again with Reno after they had increased the age limit it’s not like he gave up for no reason. Again my own thoughts.

Nah, in the first chapter he tells Reno that he gave up on joining because, “he gave it his all but the competition is pretty fierce. Everyone’s got a limit and I crashed into mine” The way that he talks to Reno in chapter 1, it’s implied that he gave up on joining before he even reached the age limit. BUTTTT at the same time, maybe you’re right and the age had something to do with it🤔🤔

This was heartwarming and very touching to see. Mina and Kafka Are finally fulfilling their promise To stand side by side. Despite for what both of them have become And something that they never wanted to be For what They had in mind in their dreams. But they have to move on And become the most strongest Officers That the Defense force and the world needs. But I'm still a little bit worried for Kafka Because we don't know how number 8 is going to play his part That depends how tough this fight's going to go. Won't say it's bad but having a biweekly manga with a whole chapter dedicated to dialogue kinda sucks. I totally understand the need for this, in fact it would be amazing to read while binge reading but unfortunately with bi weekly release with such chapters I can't help but hope for action to return

I agree with you whole heartedly. I love the material in the chapter. We’ve been waiting for Kafka and Mina to reconcile for over 3 years now. But at the same time, a 16 page chapter is so freaking short after waiting 2 weeks. It’s awesome that Matsumoto is working on so many projects at once(main manga, anime direction, Kaiju no 8 B: Side, and Kaiju No 8 Relax). But I think him working on so many projects takes away from how much content that we get in the main manga. It’s one of those situations where I genuinely did like the chapter, but I also do truly wish the chapter was longer. I honestly would’ve been okay with no fighting in the chapter still. Mina and Kafka having their moment is more than needed. But I do wish it was like. I think that’s the biggest disappointment for me. At the same time….. I bet the next 2-5 chapters are going to be HYPE.

I think it’s so relatable, and even harder for a lot of us to admit. When in reality, most of us aren’t exactly how we dreamed of. Not to mention all the mindless daikaiju that could be used as well. Maybe we'll learn more about the process of how Izumo Tec actually makes all the kaiju weaponry. Maybe even how Izumo Tec differs from other companies that use kaiju parts.

Those three? Not gonna happen. Kagurabachi blew up way more than kaiju no. 8 did in its beginning (kaiju no 8 was released in Covid lockdown so it should have had a genshin impact popularity boost effect) but ever since it switched to biweekly, it affected the pacing of the story. Undead Unluck has better world building and lore, kagurabachi is basically berserk in semi modern day with a protagonist who is more realistic than kafka (despite being younger) and Sakamoto days? Really? Nah it's has better fights. It's not fair to compare no. 8 to these 3.

I would LOVE for this series to go back to weekly. But I honestly don’t know if this manga will ever move back to weekly. Especially because Matsumoto has taken on more responsibilities since making Kaiju No 8. Now he writes/does art for Kaiju No 8, writes Kaiju No 8 B: Side, helped with the anime direction, and wrote/writing Kaiju No 8 Relax. Most mangaka are not doing this many things at once. It allows for them to be weekly manga because the mangaka have the time for it. I don’t think Matsumoto has time. I would agree with Adam above me though. UU has much better world building than KN8. I think Kagurabachi will end up being popular the same way that Kaiju No 8 is…. Maybe even MORE popular. It’s breaking so many freaking manga records right now. I love reading UU, SakaDays, and KaguraBachi. But I can’t lie, I for sure enjoy Kaiju No 8 the most out of all four options.

So let me get this straight, this mina girl ghosts him for over a decade. Doesn't help and support him when kafka fails the test 12 times. Then, when he tried again for the 13th time, she still was about to fail him until her vice captain vouched for kafka. She also hardly talked to him and ignored him even though she recognised him straight away. And now she wants to act like she cared for him??😂😂😂😂 Kafka deserves better. He should ghost this girl back and ig ore her as she did him.
