Gonna push back on that a little bit. While their poise at their age is impressive, children have more time on their hands than adults, with lesser workloads and fewer responsibilities in terms of maintaining and paying for housing and putting food on the table. Once they get out of school and do a bit of homework they can grind Ult. Not trying to take anything away from these incredible players and their accomplishments, because the amount of guys better than them at this game don’t even fill one hand. Idk why people get surprised when Sparg0 annihilates Acola's Steve. It is by far Steve's worst matchup. -2 or arguably -3. Cloud has every single characteristic a Steve player does not want of their opponent including mobility, range, large weapon coverage, etc. Almost no one else in the cast can just bair a minecart and not only destroy it but punish Steve too. Same with anvils and a long lasting up air. If you ever play Steve yourself, you'll see how nearly impossible this matchup is when playing someone at your level. Clouds moves essentially make him invincible to all of Steve's burst options when timed properly.

Geez, I have never seen acola switching off of Steve in a last ditch position before, and both of his secondaries definitely didn't seem to be up to par. I did notice that he was dropping so much stuff throughout the set that he normally gets with no problem, likely either from exhaustion and/or tournament nerves, so I guess he needed a change of scenery going to Kazuya and Aegis. Sparg0 is proving to be a massive bracket demon for him. But in the end, Sparg0at came in and cleaned up the tournament without much issue. After his set with KEN, everyone in his path was swept up without much issues. If acola won this tournament, then he is #1 this season no questions asked. But now with Sparg0 taking the tournament over acola, the conversation for #1 in the world is now contentious again, a question that will be answered with Battle of BC coming up soon.

Acolas Aegis was just as bad of an option as sticking with Steve. Heck, his Aegis did better than half of his Steve games so was it really "a bad pick"? Acola did collect some data and also Sparg0 says Aegis beats Cloud so I could see Acola winning with Aegis in the future. Either that, or it'll be Aegis dittos.

People above are stupid. Result wise mkleo is better but skill wise 2019 mkleo would lose to most of these top players today. The scene as a whole has gotten a lot stronger then it was. Hell his current joker would beat his old joker. Spargo absolutely destroys him.

I watched this live, and then rewatched it slowly to take note of things, Acola played terrible. He looked very shaken and nervous from the very start. let’s go spargo! feel a little bad for acola, being the last chance for japan to keep na from getting their first japan win, fighting someone who he’s struggled with before, the nerves are totally understandable. but like damn, spargo is crazy.
The reason I think Sparg0 is the best SSBU player is because he’s a true character fundamentalist and has conquered his bad matchups and broken DLC using base roster Cloud. His fundamentals and pure creativity with this character have stood the test of time. While players like Mkleo can’t squeeze out consistent wins without heavy reliance on fighter pass. No hit to any top players skill, but sticking to your day 1 main and still landing 1st place finishes 6 years later really says something

@nemi9217 Жыл бұрын
Tf is he supposed to do if his main is clearly not working and Kazuya is the closest thing he has to a secondary?? It’s a last ditch effort, there’s no reason to get on his ass because he wants to at least try something because the other stuff isn’t working. It’s more respectable than shameful
@oscarvilla8166 Жыл бұрын
@@nemi9217 No, its the fact that he went to the next broken character on the list. His "secondary" is an illusion, he doesnt have a secondary. He picks whatever is the most broken and thats why he earns very little respect from the community.

@@foxolocation3853 So you're saying that him going Kazuya as his secondary is purely coincidence? Not because he's obviously overpowered? If you do, you're naive. Fact of the matter is that Acola will go for whatever is busted, not what fits his play style or attachment to a character, like other pro players do. But its ok, this happens in every other game, people wil deviate towards what can bring you the most cash, but also you cant criticize the people who have no respect for these people.

@Pabz Steve is broken in theory. In practice... well you just saw. The character demands a very particular and intentional style of counterplay but clearly the people who are good at this game are willing and able to make that adaptation. And further, the tech that people talk about with Steve is functionally very difficult to utilize, potentially beyond reasonable human expectations. Being able to win with this character is a product of skill. Look at the past two busted characters in the history of smash and ask yourself if for those two, that was the case.
