What’s up guys and gals, I’m Kage848. I love to make videos for KZbin, mostly early access survival games like 7 Days to Die, Empyrion, Raft, Mist Survival, The Forest, and more! For the record, I was wrong. Contrary to what I thought, every additional point in a skill increases the chance of getting related magazines as well as parts, weapons or tools as appropriate. The same is true for attributes increasing the chance of armor books. I checked the configuration files to make sure. In unrelated news, that crack a book is a remnant crack a book. There's a remnant version of all four traditional stores. There was a battery bank in that other Rekt. You need something to power the electric fences, after all. Purified Water gives 60 water. You used to think that was a game changer. Even though the yucca smoothie is better. The cigar goes on the helmet, of course. There was a LOT of good stuff worth buying. TFP mentioned how we would not be able to buy everything we want. Bastards.

Check out the nerdy armor set. One of the pieces, I think it’s the outfit, gives a chance for each book you read to count as double.

Just loot the mail boxes and when you get to the destination show what you looted. That isnt a proper quest POI its one of those non-questable PoIs and one of the few crack a books in the forest biome. Its my current base. The forest biome is the starter area. Kinda glad they are making folks wander out of the starter zone.

​@@Kage848I know I'm just saying that forest biome is the starter zone. Them taking those huge cities out of there was the right decision. Biome progression or whatever folks wanna call it needs to be a thing. More incentive to go or even live in the other biomes. Aside from oil shale in the desert. I'm sure the pimps will eventually make proper progression for the biomes.

Just got my first feral on day 2 while doing a buried supplies at night. Fortunately, I am A Coward, and had them set to only walk. Wasn't even level 6 yet, and on lowest difficulty settings. Could you show the occasional No-Difficutlty-assigned POIs? I didn't even know they existed until I started playing, and they've been useful as an early game food source (I've got the coffee shop ones in my world). I made my base in one that has 5000 hit point walls and the stupid durable garage doors (It's a liquor store). Not a lot of room long term, but it'll buy me time until I'm brave enough to take over something else for a horde base. Keep up the good work ps: Thanks Kodos!

Love the treasure map quests. A great way to get stuff. Kage, did you see the update for Supermarket Simulator? It came out at the right time for me. I have my grandkids with me, so no 7 Days. They are having fun helping me change up the look of our shop, which they let me call it A&P (one of my 1st jobs as a teen). When they go home, it's back to 7 Days and getting ready for my next Horde Night!

I was thinking of the same thing around terrain modifiers, for example the vehicle should be faster on roads, and each biome should have modifier, for example the wasteland and snow will slow things down, and maybe if you have the 4x4 that might not be debuffed as much, I agree, why take a road when a straight-line cross country is faster. I think they did discuss it but was probably lower priority. Maybe as part of the weather update, they might consider it, would be awesome to see when rain or snow would affect vision and speed. Hmm... sandstorms and radiation clouds, ha-ha might be asking too much. Yo modders have a think on this one.

You could say "I am going to x POI" and then once you get there then you could show us what you picked up along the way, that way you don't have to have a bunch of 5 second long clips of the trip there.

EVERY POINT into every skill makes it more likely to find books related to that skill. This goes for the trees as well. If you start out by for example putting points into nothing but agility (which I often do to get to parkour 2 as quickly as possible) you will increase the chance of getting pistol, bow, knife, and armor books. The more points you spec into any particular skill will further odds for that particular book that goes with that skill (assuming there is one). This DOES NOT mean you will find NOTHING BUT those particular books, it just increases the odds of finding those particular books, also consider some loot containers will ONLY ever give certain types of books whether you have a single point into those trees or skills or not.

It seems to make sense where the game gives the books/magazines. Once I put a point into the cooking skill, I started seeing cooking books in kitchens, and salvaging books in garages with toolboxes and workbenches. So, I wonder if the books even compete with each other when the game decides to drop one in a lootable container.

@@Fxrrxt2x Cabinets always have a chance of giving cook books, I never put points into cooking, but I do put points into strength, the cooking books are usually one of the first collections I complete. Putting points into cooking only increases the odds of finding one, it will also increase the odds of getting that type of book in places that any book might pop up, like a bookshelf.

I wouldn't mind seeing some exploration and looting. The more zombies you kill the faster the game stage will go up, so maybe lay off the killing for a bit and just loot.

Just did day 7 with a hatch base. What a hoot. They tore through the top around 3,00 am and had to run them off so I could get back and do a quick repair. Full on till 4.00. Also, I check every mail box. Had a level 3 baseball bat by day 7 morning. They are worth checking especially early game.

As far as I know for pts vs magazines, at least how it worked on A21 was that each point in a skill increased the probability of getting the related magazine by 5%. Each magazine has a base 5% chance to get it. So 2 points in the pummel pete would give you a 15% boost to getting magazines of that type. This of course is weighted against all other magazine types and skills do it does not mean that you have an actual 15% chance to get a magazine associated with the skill. Its kind of hard to explain though. Lets say there are 4 magazine types you can get ( to keep things simple) all start with a weight of 5. So the total for all of them is 20 and then when you get a magazine you roll a 1d20. Then you pick the magazine from that bracket, so if you rolled an 18 and then from 16-10 = brawling magazine, you would get the brawling magazine. Now lets say you put 1 point into brawling. Now you would have a range of 1-25 you could roll, but brawling would be from 16-25. Now you can see how it makes it more likely that you will get that magazine per point spent. Of course you have a tun of magazine type and a lot of skills so the more skills you have points into that have magazines, the more it dilutes you chance to get ones you want. Hence the issue of advanced engineering vs lock picking. I Hope this is understandable.

Honestly, I hate trader quests. Im not a huge fan of traders in general, but if they must be in the game I'd prefer that they were JUST traders. The quests feel like they detract from the solo zombie survival theme. Before it was you against the world, seeking out the supplies that you needed to get by. With the introduction of trader quests, the game now feels a lot more like a dungeon crawler. Before, you would look at a building and judge whether you thought the building was worth the risk for the loot it might have. Now its just "gotta clear this POI so I can get back and turn this quest in", all so the sugar daddy/mommy npc can give me things and like me more. The quests have ripped the soul out of 7DTD, in my humble opinion. This was by far my favorite episode so far. And thats not to say I havent enjoyed the others, and its certainly not any kind of statement about you Kage. I understand that you like quests, but I would certainly like to see some of these episodes sprinkled in from time to time.

Second Rekt was quite far away indeed but he was in the city you have a quest already so you have to go there anyway. Get another quest from him (there was an infested one nearby), bang both of them and then return first to the second Rekt and then go back to your city.

In the earlier versions they had speed boost or stamina boost while traversing on roads. Mods mods mods mods need more mods every major patch. TFP want to patch the game probably will need more mods.

TFP are pushing "make it yourself" and slowing down game progression...and that's cool. I do hate having "loot mailboxes" as a major game play element, but I guess the answer is: keep moving towns. Cool that you gave Kodos a shout out. I'm a fan, especially when he manages to prank you. 😆
