A little trick that PCItalian and I used in our first playthrough was use 2 or 3 portable constructors, just outside the front door of our base, to produce bio fuel and single promethium cells, While the output is relatively slow, it consistently produces fuel throughout the day & night without relying on base power for production. It is one of my favorite early game "gas stations" that allows you to build up stock rather quickly. Your base will use available solar power first, before using the standard fuel tanks. It will only use the traditional fuel tanks when the solar panels cannot keep up with the consumption of the base's equipment. Great video again Kage! Thanks for revisiting this game! It is one of my all-time favorites! Keep up the great work.

I was wondering why he didn't have his small constructer down making fuel while he had the large constructer making the more complex items. Building a couple extra small ones is a good idea. They don't cost much to make.

The quest is bugging because you have two of the same quest so if you try to complete the quest again then you should be able to turn. Hop that helps!!❤️

4:11 Main page of control panel shows you total energy output (what the solar panels/generators are supplying) and consumption (what the base is using). Power left is how much time until the current energy stored is used up (in this case you have 1% of stored). As long as your output is greater than consumption your energy storage will increase and the power left time will increase.

To stop your base from floating, you can right click with the drill and go into fill mode. It doesn't cost any materials.

Ah... I remember this base, it was my go-to build for awhile. FYI, the lever by the door was turning the constructor on/off. The Cyborgs are NPCs like prey animals, unless they're /Assault/ Cyborgs, they have guns and are like predator NPCs.

Kage, forget about turrets on the base, you can remove them and don't waste resources that way. In the new start scenario there is NO base attacks on the starting moons. Also one more thing, that switch is for the constructor if I read sign correctly ;) Keep in mind when producing biofuel: "Never put biofuel production on the large constructor, use multiple portable constructors instead". It is because production time is same on every constructor and portable ones doesn't consume fuel to produce it ;) You don't have to kill the droids unless an assault droid, only he will attack others not. I have 10 of damaged droid wandering thru my base, almost like deco :D And yeah, some quests are pretty bugged

Kage you must have forgotten some stuff about the game but I think you should make fuel in the portable constructors so you don't burn fuel at night. Turn off some lights and make some more solar capacitors for solar storage good luck great video

Yes, he defiantly forgot about the portables. 5 or 6 making fuel would be best for this unit. If I take over spot I usually remove any lights to limit power consumption. Suit lights take no power and you don't need lights on in a room your not in. On this starter promethium can be found underwater.

Hi, i build this Base yesterday to. Its the right to start. Cheep and roomy. Bases use the Energy as follow. First they use Solar-Power. If its empty they use the normal Fuel-Generator-Power. So you can put the Generator off and use it as Reserve. Build Solar-Panels and Capacitors in or near your Base until max. Its done you never need normal Fuel :)) And the Plant-Room can upgradet to 27 growing Plots. Enough for everything.

You can make juices (from veggies or fruits) to get early game healing. They only do health points, they don't cure any status effects. The food processors can do all of them, and you can make one type in your inventory and I think in the mobile constructors.

I am blown away by the depth of this game. NMS has the size but the depth of a puddle, which is fine; somedays, I am tired and don't care for this deep of a game. I do enjoy NMS. This also looks cool.

The issue is that it’a not airtight, or at least one version of the base isn’t. Kind of an issue in some planets

The battery stores power from solar panels. When you went to sleep, solar panels were without sun, and battery depleted. That's why you found battery at zero.

The cyborgs that shoot at you are called assault cyborgs and they carry weapons. If they don't have a weapon in their hands, they aren't the assault type and wont shoot at you. I learned this the hard way after a few deaths and losing my backpack.

You can use the survival tools gather resource setting to clear the grass to find bodies on the ground you just tap it and it wipes a good sized circle

7:28 is exactly why you build cheap and energy free constructors, i make 4 of them with my one oxy/water maker. That way, they are doing the grunt work, and saving your power eating big constructor for the jobs only it can do. I would never use anything but portables for making something like fuel. Thats like driving fifty miles to save 3 cents a gallon on fuel.

Kage, the switch seems to turn the constructor on and off to save power. The gen. wasn't filling the battery because the power was being used up and the solar output (which normally fill the batteries) doesn't supply enough output to fulfill the consumption. Great video!

I have always been a proponent of underground bases. Much harder for drones to rocket your base to death if they can reach it. Of course now the AI can take over a base if you’re not careful, but practical protections help.

The portable constructor is my best friend early game. They have unlimited inventory and they mark themselves on the map. I make a bunch of them and leave them at every resource site processing stuff. I have one by the trees. I have one in each mine. I have one at salvage sites. I have one at wherever I am basing myself. As I fill up inventory I offload to the constructor and I have them all cooking ingots and bio fuel the whole time. Then I visit the the sites to pick up processed resources like they are an autominer and I build blueprints. I can get an HV with lots of storage and a constructor and I don't even need a planet base (depending on what NPC constructors are available).

I recommend binding auto level(flying control key bind) to middle mouse button. That makes it east to level yourself while flying without having to use a keyboard finger, which are usually quite preoccupied.

Don't use the constructor or foodprocessor while asleep. They use a crazy amount of power while you sleep.

I always sleep when I have a ton of stuff in the constructor to craft and I have never had an issue with power. Power at least in older versions was never an issue to keep filled, it may be very different in this new release.

I believe the portable constructor is the only one that keeps building stuff while you sleep. Even with the large solar panels you might need 10 or more to be mostly energy efficient.

Place it with the base (retractable) and you'll gain a block of elevation. Also, drones & ships don't 'go for the core' anymore. They spread their fire to generators, guns, etc.

You can use your drone to spawn factory blueprints, which can help with spawning bases

id really recomend farming crashed wreckage i spent about 45 mins around the crashed fed frigate and got about 14k metal plates saved me so much time regarding iron

under the main tab it will tell you how long your current power will last. also the battery is for excess solar energy only as it is your solar capacitor storage. hope this helps my friend

Only Solar Panels charges Capacitors (batteries). Generators kick in when batteries are empty.

If your core is buried then the enemy will hack your base from outside,but if you leave the core is exposed inside your base then they will try to break in and destroy it,which gives your defenses and you more time to defend bud.Like other people have said,Solar power will get used up first,then it will switch over to fuel.Always turn stuff off you are not using.

That's an older build that doesn't have the newer cargo/extensions. Just stick the controller in a corner and start replacing the floor until you hit 320k su

You should probably use RETRACTABLE minigun turrets instead of the cannon turrets. The minigun ones do less damage per round, but their fire rate gives them substantially higher DPS. The retractable turrets also have substantially higher HP than the regular turrets (unless they changed this). I always use solar panels - and a bunch of capacitors - and i never have issues with fuel. You can have up to 16 solar panels, which is probably more than you will need, as long as you have enough capacitors. If you are somewhat close to the equator, you want flat solar panels, and if you are north or south, you want sloped ones to catch most of the sun. The BA/SV/HV/CV constructors use so much fuel when making biofuel, so it is much better to make biofuel in the portable constructors, as they dont use any power. With 4 or 8 of them outside the base, i get a decent amount of biofuel in a single night. 4 and 8 are ideal numbers, as it makes it easy to split stacks of wood into equal amounts for each of the portable constructors. Filling up 4 is "ok" - while filling up 8 start to get annoying, which is why i usually prefer small SVs early game...

That base is good for a starter but you need to add some towers to the corners to add turrets. Oh...and add about 4 or so more solar batteries. That way the base keeps going well without as much fuel.

Only issue I have with this game is the iron and copper need to be swapped. Iv been struggling with carbon in my game, didn't find the xerax when exploring.

can you put batterys on your ships yet? i like making solar ships in space engineers sure some of them are a bit over sized (( with out mods )) also yes it would be nice if you can use your gens to charge the bats but noo side note i had asked awhile ago on steam for the battery's to be able to be put on other things besides the base mostly as it would help most ship types maybe not as much for the bigger ships but some of the compact high efficiently ships would help then quite a bit

I'm surprised you got a drone attack. I didn't get a single one when on the starter moon. I had a bare bones base with just a small constructor, fridge, and solar. I wonder if they only attack when you've built up your base with certain items like large constructors. Or maybe my game is just bugged. Enjoying the videos.

Yes, it was definitely the Polaris "Privacy Matters" mission that spawned the drones, it always spawns in 4 drones. Also, if you watched when he was in the control panel of the base, there are no base attacks on this planet.

It kind of looked like you had two copies of the quest, and the second one had 5 out of the six quest items. Guessing the first one is the one trying to complete. Seems like the devs should either not allow two of the the same named quest, or serialize them with a [1] and [2] type thing so they have different names when interacting with the NPCs.

You should try out Ascension RE unchained. It’s got everything Reforged Eden does plus star salvage and on top of that has over 600 new assets and it add its own story.Plus it less grindy that Reforged

I don't know how it works now but passing time would bring an attack closer. The range thing has always annoyed me in this game. None of the weapons you have has a range longer than the Zirax. You always have to take hits to get close enough to anything. Just give us one freaking weapon that has a decent range. Why don't you loot all the cyborgs? That is disappointing. At least the quests worked before even if they didn't make sense. Seriously why release an update that doesn't appear to work? Doesn't give one confidence in the rest of it. I was going to start a new game but I'll hold off now until they sort themselves out.
