@Mil e uma Receitas de Miojo I thought Ran a lesser work than Kagemusha. Ran seems predominately dark and morbid. Kagemusha has a symphonic variation with both bright and dark imagery. Both films display artful vivid clarity of cinematic scenes. Kagemusha has better flow of story and scenes of fine varied details. Both films have strong visual impact.

勝新にしてもショーケンにしてもまさに私生活ドタバタの荒れ狂った波のようないつ何が起こるか分からない不安定さ。 ドタキャン、代役などは常に背中合わせ。 この影武者ではショーケンまでも転覆しなくてよかったわ。
