I knew vijaya choudhary while I was in school at hazaribagh in jharkhand. She had an uncle mrHuck was a jailor in hazaribagh jail. Frequently she used to visit her uncle. Later she was married to a top officer who was working in ITC indian tobacco company.

I remember her as Kalpana’s cousin in the 1962 Professor, which I felt was good casting because both heroines had a few resemblances. When I was younger, I mistook the actress in ‘Shokh Nazar Ki Bijliyan’ for Kalpana, when it actually was Parveen.

Vijaya aunty shifted to Hazaribagh (Jharkhand) during 80s with her son Asad Ahmed. Later on after her son got job in Canada, Vijaya aunty also went to stay with him. Few years later she took her last breath in Canada. 🙏

You can see her sitting behind Madhubala on the left side( your left & not Madhubala's). I personally feel she looked even more beautiful than Madhubala. And another intersting fact- the other team in the qawwali was headed by Nigar Sultana & the lady on the left ( your left once again) is Meenu Mumtaz, real sister of famous comedian Mehmood! And what a coincidence, Meenu Mumtaz also spent her last days in Canada. An era, gone forever!

Thanks, ShishirJi, for covering these four artists. I have seen only one movie each of the first three, and none of KumudJi. But I did recognize her face. She was beautiful then and still is. I recall SudeshJi pairing with NandaJi in "Anchal," an Ashok Kumar and Nirupa Roy starrer, and fondly remember the duet "गा रही है जिंदगी हर तरफ़ बहार है..." Glad they all have done well after leaving the Tinsel Town. I totally agree with you on the cliché: "उगते सूरज को सलाम..." Yes, we are all aware of the shallowness of the selfish world, but this saying puts an arbitrary yardstick to measure a person's worth. I find it just as appalling!
